Hello World!

I’ve been frequenting ATS as a lurker for a while now and have just decided to create an account. I have stood idly by for far too long. The reason that I am drawn to ATS is the broad range of topics that are discussed by its members, as well as, the active moderation to keep things on target.

This being the introductions board, let’s get on with it.

I was born a Yankee and now live in the south (USA) as a southerner.
I married a southern girl who can shoot smiley faces, with pistols, in targets from 30ft.
I have a 7 year old son who I think is the most amazing person I’ve met in my lifetime.
I don’t really like children.
I have a chihuahua and a basset/lab mix. (yeah I said chihuahua. you wanna start something?)
I’m a college graduate with a double-major in theology and mechanical engineering. (long story)
I don’t believe in god.
I quit my career to move to the beach and raise my son. I have never been happier.
I own a small manufacturing company. I pay a fair wage. I have great employees.
I’m a reformed non-smoker.
I’ve never seen a UFO/Alien, but I want to.
When I walk the dogs at night, I stare at the stars.
I look for the good in people and always note the bad.
I believe mankind is more than what we have become. (Lion King reference)
I don’t trust politicians, but I love my country.
I don’t like war, but I admire and support our troops.
I pay my taxes every year without complaint.
I don’t trust big business and I think Wall Street is full of non-producing mooches.
I don't believe in second-chances.
I value the opinions of others even if I don’t share those opinions.
I think the guy in the ATS videos has creepy eyes!
I look forward to meeting you all in cyberland.

Tight lines,

SC

AboveTopSecret is much like a theme park with many, many rides, with that said...
Here's a few thoughts before getting onto any one of the 1000's of topical rides at Above Top Secret, also known as ATS, the world's largest Civil & Unique Discussion Community.

*** Please be at least this tall to get on any of the rides, (Johnny stretches his arm outward), and act like an 'civil' adult. This will save you a lot of future stress, frustration and possible action by one of your friendly neighborhood Mods!

*** Please remember that some members are very passionate and vocal depending on what ride your on. Before getting on a ride, you should be mentally fit, emotionally stable and have a strong stomach for theories, conjecture, research and evidence presented that may be contrary to your own.

*** Please be "open-minded" enough to understand that sometimes the ride isn't always what you might think or expect. At times, you may learn something new and 'out-of-the-box' before you get off the ride, this is a natural and normal phenomena.

*** Please note that at times the ride gets overly-heated and "it's strongly suggested" to get off the ride to regroup one's thoughts before continuing. This will also help guarantee that the ride will move forward without getting derailed or explode into a fiery trashbin.

*** Please have fun! Be aware if you act in an uncivil-like manner, use profanity, intentionally spread a hoax and/or get verbally abusive, you will be removed off the ride by a Moderator. This is for your safety, & also for those both young and old on the ride with you.

So buckle up, keep your arms within the ride's comfort zone, have fun and "Deny Ignorance"...!

Welcome to ATS! I've just joined today myself.

On another note, How come you don't like children? Specific ones or general? Sorry, I was curious and mystified when I saw that.

It's not that confusing. Dr. Suess is famous for saying that he didn't like children, but a child by itself was just great.

I'm the same way.....Not too crazy about a bunch of kids together, spazzing out, but it was love at first sight for me when I had my own. I have liked individual kids, but it takes a special kind of person to like a group of 'em all together, because what one kid doesn't think of in terms of mischief, another one will.

BTW, OP....WELCOME!!

If anyone says anything about your chihuahua, you call on me....I pack a mean punch. Mine is in my avi...she's kind of a big deal to me

I also have 1 child. I also don't like children. I can also shoot smiley faces into targets from 30(ish) feet, it's fun and promotes happiness!

Welcome to ATS!

The boy has a lot of friends. Everyone of them has a host of redeeming qualities. But there is always that one thing, that moment, when they do or say something where you cock your head to one side and go...Hmm. Of course my boy doesn't possess that fault but I’m being completely biased here. That being said, I’d have to say that spending time with a small child generally wouldn’t be my first choice of time-filler. That would apply equally to a group.
