I think you're taking the article out of context.

It's just a cupcake vending machine, not the end of the world.

The end has to begin somewhere.

Have you tried calling your cellphone company? Or bank? Or Internet provider? Or doctors office? Or a government agency like IRS? Social security?
There are NO more people to talk to anymore.

Cashiers are fading away because everything is plastic now.

Having food service was the last thing to go. And it's starting. All your shopping will be done this way. You think grocery stores will last? Look at the cashier lines. There are 10 empty checkouts to 1 cashier now.
It's started.

You must be young!

You must be old! Oh noes, the machines are taking over!

Good thing young people are better with computers, learning how to program at younger ages, making a living online building websites and selling ad space. Just like old people today are better with the technology from their days compared to young people today?

Oops.. forgot you adapt or die in the real world. Not hinder progress because grandpa isn't comfortable with a phone with tiny buttons when you can say outloud "call john" and it does it for you

oh no, we're replacing jobs that pay next to nothing to make room for jobs that could possibly get rid of "working" all together and let people get back to doing what they're passionate about.. which im 100% certain isn't being a cashier

This isn't too bad. When new machines are invented such as this one, a new skilled worker is needed in order to fix it, stock it, retrieve money from it, etc. Machines break down fairly easy, and some nowadays don't even last a year before it needs to be repaired or replaced.

This is all I have to say ...

In a Nation with an obvious problem with Obesity, why is having cupcakes in a vending machine even needed?

Do we really have to question why obesity is a problem in so many parts of the world?

Honestly, America is WAY behind compared to most of the rest of the world when it comes to vending machines. In Japan, you can get an entire meal out of vending machines on every corner.

You want to talk about these typpes of machines really destroying jobs, take a look at this:
ondemandbooks.com...

From the linked source:

Put simply, the Espresso Book Machine® (EBM) is a "bookstore in a box" for retailers, an additional sales channel for publishers, and a great vehicle for self publishing. Readers can order books online or onsite at bookstores and libraries—global search capability with local print fulfillment. Within a few minutes a book emerges, in any language, with a full-color cover, trimmed to an exact size, and virtually indistinguishable from the publisher's version. Watch the video. EBMs have been installed worldwide in bookstores, libraries, and universities (see the complete list). The Xerox 4112 Copier/Printer—part of the technology thanks to a partnership with Xerox—adds speed and exceptional image quality.

Now THESE types will certainly take away countless jobs...

I'm young but remember when you talked to people....

Wait, you still do.

Ridiculous that the local job centre gives you a phone number to call their regional head office just to make an appointment with an advisor at the job centre but you're still talking to people the whole time (unless they put you on hold for 10 minutes)
