What is the consensus on when Christianity went from being a heretical Jewish sect to a religion in its own right? That is if there is a consensus!

Unfortunatly my friend i am not an expert on Christianity...Nor am i christian... I don't even believe its possible to be an "expert" on christianity... even the priests of that religion have conflicts between various sects of their church... and theres 32k different flavors as well... Though i do consider myself an expert on the words of Jesus...

There is a vast difference between Jesus and Christianity believe it or not...

Though my best answer would probably be when the official cannon of the church was established. At that time the church decided what beliefs represented christianity as a whole... Though you'll also find that the Cannons of the synod of Laodicea tend to go against what Jesus taught in the first place...
