2, Michael McIntyre
3, Jason manford.
4, Kevin Bridges
5, Sean lock.
6, John bishop
7, Lee Mack
8, Russell Howard
9, Chris Addison

There are more culprits, but im losing the will here.

Wow, how on earth did McIntyre, Manford, Bridges and Howard make your list there? Those guys are hilarious. 'Russell Howard's Good News' in particular is just fantastic, I was watching it only a few nights ago and was in stitches.

Oh and have you even seen McIntyre? He's anything but bland. He's one of the most energetic comedians in the UK right now, lol.

Out of curiosity as well, who's your favourite comedians out there?

Some others from that list are just great as well.

Kevin Bridges for example is one of the best Scottish comedians around right now in my opinion:

Jason Manford at the Apollo.

Part 2

Russell Howard in his own show, 'Russell Howard's good news':

This guy wasn't mentioned but he's probably my favourite right now so he deserves a mention.. he's just hilarious:

If you like any of the bland comedians in that list, may I suggest that you are NOT a proper admirer of good comedy.

I agree, some of those comedians are pretty lame.... but a couple are OK.
I prefer meatier comedy too and something that is also a statement on society and so on.

Most of the popular comedians just aren't that funny.

Michael McIntyre has made me laugh though... never seen any of his dvds or anything but odd bits here and there were funny.

Sean Lock is very funny on 8 out of 10 cats and other shows, QI, Buzzcocks etc..... he's has me in stitches before, so random..

Russell Howard has made me laugh on Mock The Week a few times too.

But the rest are just not very funny, I agree there.

Comedy is like any art/performance art, in that it's very subjective..... there are a few things that are just funny, but mostly it depends on taste, subject matter, references and so on.

I like Bill Bailey... just hilariously random.

I like Jimmy Carr... Frankie Boyle is pretty good but his DVDs ain't all that really.

Ricky Gervais.. the man we love to hate, dude's pretty funny in his stand up though.

Bill Hicks & George Carlin... goes without saying really.

Eddie Izzard can be pretty funny too

Watched Simon Amstell's DVD recently and that was actually very funny... elements of Hicks in there, surprising really.

Dylan Moran is very funny too...

As is Russell Brand in his stand up...

Can't think of any others right now?

Hehe, they're not bad (I particularly enjoyed watching the last one for some reason
). Have you ever looked at some of the older brit comedies btw? Watching those videos you posted, particularly the first one, reminded me of them is all - Stuff like Only Fools and horses, Monty Python, Bottom, Blackadder etc. All really good stuff.

Some recent stuff you might like as well:

Harry and Paul. Are. Geniuses. Simple as that.

The only comedian on your OP list I don't think should be there is Sean Lock, the guy is hilarious.

Add Rhod Gilbert, Lee Evans, Russell Brand and Ricky Gervais on there to make it truly complete.

I've also sat through entire shows with Bill Hicks and Andrew Dice Clay and have never been so bored. Hicks is just a chain smoking guy who rants at stuff and what he says is mostly shouted at the audience but the only guys I know of who can do that and actually be funny are Denis Leary and an Australian called Brendan Burns (the latter once called Russell Brand a hairy, walking STD to much joy from me and his audience)

I like the fact that only you seem to have noticed that this is a rant thread and not a i love so and so thread.

i dislike that you put DL over Bill Hicks.
