In the 1st photo of Foley Prom you may notice a faint streak
of light in the background, here circled in red.

In the high res image it looks like this.
This is in its standard format, unzoomed.

The pic below is cropped and zoomed

This is the same image as above with inverted colour

**If anyone would like the original high res image, send me a private message
with your email address and I will post it to you. It is a 5mb file.

Back onto the second pic, the obelisk in the background
circled here in blue is not on any of the other photos in the same run.
So it must only be a development process type of thing.
The other object circled in red is in the other photos but
looks more to be a strange terrain feature than anything else.

Here is something else I am kind of working on. Once again I am waiting
for high res photos to proove myself wrong

There is a series of photographs from Highjump on the database.
All of the photos of this particular run have the same object circled.
This is one of the photos in low res
I am not the one who circled this object, it is on the original photos
from 1947.

I cant help but notice that this looks like a pyramid, and so do the others
at this resolution anyway

Yeah, Yeah I know but look at the pic below. Notice how the shadow
stretches along one side, it looks the same to me.

Have a nice day

Here are the low res scans.
Notice how it keeps its shape at different angles.

We'll see what happens in a few weeks time when the high res scans come in

It could easily be a rocky outcrop or something like that as well.

Here is a possible explanation for the beam of light in the first photo 'foley prom'.

These are called light pillars. They happen in freezing conditions and water vapor in the air
is crystalized. These crystals dont become heavy enough to fall to the ground so remain
suspended in the air. As light passes through the cloud of crystals the light diffuses causing
the effect below. These photos are from ground lights, the 1st photo is street lights and
the 2nd photo is ice skate rink lights

www.astronet.ru

I think the sun is reflecting off a slab of ice, the light then passes through the
ice crystals in the air and becomes scattered or diffused.
Resulting in this

What do you all think?

Oh geez, silly me did I forget to mention that,

All photos in this thread makeing reference to original Operation Highjump are
used with acknowledgement that the Australian Antarctic Data Centre are the
lawful copyright owners and stuff

WOW brilliant find. Excellent and this is what i want from ATS.

Also in relation to this thread possibly add to it the Lake Vostok interest and perhaps also Icecube thread
and here is the link to the IceCube homepage

Very interesting thread indeed S&F

oh and by the way.....thanks for blowing my mind!!!!!

Thanks for the icecube links, I missed that one. Technology is becoming fullon hey

As for the threads I though what the hell it's 2012, time to get crazy

I was very interested in seeing the pics on this post, but for some reason they appear to be gone? I don't even get a link.. just blank space, in the very first post....

Ok then, so I'll use this as a review post.
This is the first pic Foley Prom.
Full low res image

Cropped high res image

I looks like the beam of light is comming from this ground feature.

In the next image of the flight run the light beam is gone
but the ground feature is still there.

The only natural explanation I can find is these light pillars.
In really cold environments, ice particles in the air diffuse the light
creating a light pillar.

street lights

ice skate rink lights

Please note that light pillars normally appear above the light source
not projected from it as the black and white photos.

In the first pic you will see an area circled in red.
In the high res image this appears in the sky.

This is the second pic, when I first posted this thread
I only had this one photo, and as I stated there looks like and obelisk
on the horizon. And something else to the left of the pic.

Once I located other photos of the flight run, it became certain that the obelisk
was just a chemical burn or something similar that happened during the
development process. The object of interest to the left seems to be nothing but
an interesting land feature.

This is the 3rd pic. I found it interesting as they have circled an area of interest
and have written a referal to another photo. The photo that is refered to is missing from
the database and attempts to contact the AADC have gone unanswered at this time.

This brings us to this set of photos below. As I stated earlier it looks like
a pyramid. There are a few natural pyramidal mountains in Antarctica so this could
easily be so too. The structure was circled by whoever was connected to Highjump, not me.

Ok, now look at this photo below. Look at the general landscape and notice how the
roads and tracks criss cross around the place.

First of all, I stumbled across this thread Here
I mailed the original poster Weirdguy to ask him about this stuff. He could'nt give me anymore info,
he said that he only posted it to get the link for the Australian Antarctic Data Centre (AADC)
into the ATS database. He told me to go for it, thats why he posted it in the first place.
So thanks for the find Wierdguy

My main interest was this pic from Weirdguys thread below

At first it seamed to me that it was a light artifact or chemical burn during processing
but it looked very centred to me and I became curious. I requested a high res copy
from the AADC and it is 5mb so too big for me to upload
here. Upon closer inspection the beam of light seams to be emanating from a ground
feature.

These pics below are from the high res copy you will have to scroll the image

The second photo of interest is this one. I am still waiting on the
high res copy from the AADC. You will notice the gigantic obelisk on the horizon.

In the zoomed in pic it looks as though this obelisk is comming up behind
some hills.

This is a close up of the anomaly to the left of the main photo.
Could this be a structure/facility of some kind? Kind of looks
like a toy train set lol.

This is the third pic, as you can see it makes reference to another photo.
Just out of interest the photo 122 R/O M26 Roll 68 Run 2 is missing from the
AADC database, of course.
I am still waiting for the high res copy from the AADC.

I wonder what they found so interesting, most of the photos on the database
are unmarked.

At about the 4 o'clock position in the main photo there are some other curiosities
on a hill. I did'nt englarge them too much so not to pixelate too much.

So what do you all think, are these all just light reflections or chemical anomalies that
happened during the development process, or are they something else?
What are your thoughts ATS?
I shall update this thread in the future once I receive the high res photos

Why will these images not appear for me? I don't seem to have trouble with any other images... I can see the links in the quoted text, but even in the post preview I am getting nothing.

Also, when I try to enter the URL directly into a browser (for example: files.abovetopsecret.com... ) I am getting a "404"
