In your situation, I'm sure most people would come to a similar conclusion. One thing that outsiders often fail to realize is the powerful emotions of a person and how those feelings played on the decisions and performance. Those feelings affect the way we experience things and also colors our memory when we recall them.

Colouration of memories is paramount in todays society but often disregarded as unimportant and/or insignificant which goes to show the lack of reasoning within the human race. Perilous to our existence perhaps.
