Ron Paul is a racist.

In 2008 one of the coordinators for Ron Paul's campaign was Randy Gray who is a white supremacist.

His stance on the Civil Rights act of 1964 is also distasteful. Believing in property rights over the increased protection that the act gives to minorities.

Alongside this are the newsletters that apparently he had no idea existed till now seems a bit odd to me too. If he had known they existed he allowed racists to speak in his name which is somewhat suspicious for a man of government.

Just because you take a picture with someone doesn't mean you are what the other person in the photo is, it doesn't make you racist to stand next to a person who is. Everyone is a little racist thats how we were raised, divide and conquer while TPTB smoke cigars wrapped in large bills as the people fight each other over skin color.

What better frontman to run against Obama?

Seriously though, his stance is not racist, it is constitutionalist. He wants to do away with the entire D.O.E., because it isn't the Federal Govt's purvay, and it has been an epic failure. He isn't "pro-segragation," he is just anti-government involvement.

This same old tired argument has been brought up time and time again. It also goes for his other stances, such as claiming he is "pro-legalization." He is definitely not "pro" anything, he just wants the Federal Government out of the Nanny business. He wants personal responsibility and state's rights.

You can keep tossing this info out there, we've all seen it plenty of times, but it just isn't true. Some people will choose to make the leap and believe it, while others will choose to look into what Ron Paul stands for and realize this is just part of his overall stance on government.

I choose the side of personal responsibility, small government, and state's rights. YMMV

Paul is a Libertarian .. he believes in Freedom, and that includes the freedom to not like people for any personal reason. White supremacist vote for someone you know, you'll find them on all sides, even under Obama ironically because most of the White Supremacist groups are neo-socialist.

He's against affirmative action, hate crime laws and laws requiring equal treatment by force of hand .. that's to say, a business can serve whomever they please.. if they don't want to serve you because you're black, Asian, Hispanic, Gay, fugly, Russian, whatever ... that's their choice.

You can make that out to being "racist" I suppose .. but it's more about Freedom, something you wouldn't understand since you seem to think we all need laws to force us to like each other. Maybe in reality YOU are the racist, since you seem to only function in society with the comfort of laws telling you that you have to like others, not that you actually do.

I'm voting for Ron, I don't care who he takes pictures with. I know like 30 people who have pictures with Ron Paul and he has no idea who he's taking pictures with, they could be mass murders for all he knows. Grasping at straws here.

Obama's relationship with the Black panthers is ok, Ron Paul's picture with a Stormfront guy... Stop the presses!

What I have noticed here on ATS is that you can't say anything negative about everybodys hero Ron Paul. It will just get twisted and turned around until people think he is more of the great savior so many people here think he is.

Now i'm not advocating against him or anything, just saying this is the trend I have seen.

I was not interested enough in the elections of 08' to pay much attention to anything going on in politics at the time, but since my interest in Paul in these elections I have learned this is an old/non-issue.

Something tells me this is going to be one of those threads where all the counter arguments will be ignored by the OP as he/she will watch for S&F's to ensue while the intended controversial topic gets foiled.

People can say anything negative they want. But they need to be able to back it up. Twisting his stances, or making something out of nothing, like a photo or a handshake is just naive and ridiculous. There are enough intelligent, well-researched supporters here to put the idiocracy to bed quickly.

If someone has a legitimate issue with Ron Paul, then voice it, and back it up.

Personally, I am against his stance on the National Parks. He wants to sell that land and entrust it to private industry, and I think that is a HUGE mistake. But, he is still by far the best candidate on the ballot.

If he's racist, then why does he want to let out all those nonviolent drug offenders that are disproportionately brown people?

The fist thing you mention is what he's always stood for....
Removal of Federal control and bureaucracy ,however still maintaining segregation as unconstitutional.
Basically segregation is already deemed unconstitutional (you know..against the constitution) therefor a Federal law and control is unneeded.

The thing about the KKK is just stupid. Just because a white supremacists group donates/supports a campaign doesn't mean the candidate agrees with those views.

I don't think it's so much that ATS is obsessed with Ron Paul , I think it's the lack of support for the other candidates that make it seem that ATS is obsessed with him. Where is the support for Romney and Newt?
