Leon Ray Livingston gets credited for hobo signs and I think a survival forum would appreciate seeing them.
If things went south these signs would be a great thing to know about.

star and flagged
very cool and very important
i suppose normal folk wouldnt even be looking for these signs and if they did see them they wouldnt think they mean anything,

even the hobos are pulling the wool over the normal folk
love it!!

That's what I mean, thanks.
If you see the signs while you are out and about, it would be interesting to recognize them.
Granted they were mostly used in the turn of the last century, but if things got bad we may see more things like this in parks and public places.

check out this documentary -

"Who Is Bozo Texino?" - a search for a famous guy that rode the rails. its about writing monikers but it also goes into Hobo/Freight culture which I find fascinating.

Thanks for this!

Thank you for that video.
I need to find the whole film now.

I wonder if geocaching is derived from this somehow.

Interesting. I am pretty observant and a person about town, but I've never noticed these signs. There is one similar to a bar in KC my friend owns, which would make perfect sense; man with gun.

Might be interesting to flag this thread and start paying more attention to them as well as photographing and uploading here.
