Islamic cleric bans women from touching bananas

You heard it right, no fruit or vegetable that resembles the male penis will be allowed to be touched by women. If they chose to prepare or to eat the banned foods they will have to have a male family member cut them into small pieces.

The Egyptian news website Bikya Masr on Wednesday quoted the cleric whose diktat featured in an article on el-Senousa, a religious publication. The cleric has said that women should not even get close to bananas or cucumbers. "If women wish to eat these food items, a third party, preferably a male related to them such as their a father or husband, should cut the items into small pieces and serve," the cleric dictated. According to the cleric, bananas and cucumbers "resemble the male penis" and therefore could arouse women or "make them think of sex." The cleric also added carrots and zucchini to the list of forbidden foods for women.

Ok now this is taking it too far! What happens when a person represses something? It can and usually does become an obsession! When you are told not to think of a pink elephant with purple polka dots it is certain that the image is going to come to the forefront of your minds eye.

The same with sex, when the body denies something so natural, a basic and fundamental part of our physiology, it causes perversion and an unhealthy pattern which will come out in dreams and in other ways that someone with a normal healthy outlook processes.

Poor women, now they will be stoned to death for making a salad!!!

Funny how these are the very foods a Mother feeds to her little child, she lovingly hands the growing child a banana, carrot, slice of cucumber. This is going to now get a Mother thrown into jail or worse? This makes her a pervert because she chooses a healthy food to serve?

It would never happen without their society thinking it is the way they want to live right? So who are we to condemn?

Keep the judgement to things concerning your own society, that you have a right to judge. Things like this can of course be discussed, but try to arrive at the discussion level headed and not riding the high horse.

Does Youporn not work in Egypt? Funny, Id like to see my girl with a cucumber in each hand while eating a banana. Silly cultural differences. That however is what happens when you let religion dictate your society.........

to tell you the truth , i heard this the other day from a friend while we were in my office and we all laughed at this nonsense , this moron if genuine then he need to go to a shrink , period .

Homosexuality is allowed in this religion. Women are for making babies and little boys are for fun.

Honestly, the Conservative Islamic representatives are being voted into power in most countries by a very large margin. If this is how they choose to live then so be it. We (assuming you are) as Americans need to butt out of everyone's business but our own.

Oh I am very much on a high horse as that is where I find the truth! Lol, this is sheer and utter non sense. It is creating a problem where there is none.

If Muslims could become educated about the true nature of human sexuality, stop obsessing on it which is only a result of it's oppression, much of their violence would be resolved. The more obsessive and oppressive they get with sexuality, the worse their violence gets.

I'm so sorry to hear this. If they keep it up, I expect the women will start committing suicide. I probably would -- trying to find a way to jump off the crazy train they are on. Very sad.

We are living in a time in which people will start seeing how ridiculous religious dogma has become and begin questioning their reasons for being apart of it. It seems to me this cleric have an unhealthy view of sex and most certainly it would seem a fantasy opinion of women from some porno movie.

IMO, what is wrong with sex with a fruit or veggie? Seems this would cause far more sex with men to happen, perhaps this cleric actually wants more women to break the laws of chastity?

I for one do not think this will ever go anywhere after all what did the poor fruit ever do to women? They cannot make them pregnant, or rape them, or break promises or turn them in for sex outside marriage...

Well,the cleric must be thinking about a lot of naughty stuff before hand to come up with these crazy bans.Either that or hes had an experience with a lady and a banana that's went wrong.

Really? I thought it was allowed for those who have power and when they want to make an example out of the poor and powerless they put on a pony show. (While back at home in their little dungeons they ARE the pony being ridden by someone with a bigger beard.
