Yet another person who just doesnt get it. Wants to say the systems broke but doesnt want anyone to do anything about it. Wants to complain and moan like someone taking something away from him when no one is. Wants to talk about "entitlement-bred" but doesnt want to look at that issue in society or fix it.

Glad to see you all fired up, just a shame its for no good cause. Maybe if you put a fraction of that energy into doing something, the world would be a better place.

I love this!!

The only ones who are going to try to take from us are the corporations who don't follow basic laws or pay for maintaining the infrastructure they use.

So you think just because the universe doesn't owe anyone a thing; that's it's ok to commit egregiousness crimes and distort the system to benefit yourselves? Not saying that you do that in particular, but it's become the staple point of corporate America. No, you didn't work hard that you deserve infinite power and money, and can do anything you want without repercussions. The American dream was a great dream when most people atleast had a fighting chance; when corruption wasn't rampant and collapsing the foundations of the country.

But thanks to the shallow, materialistic ambitions of a handful of spoiled corporate brats the country is in shambles; the inequality is absurd. The dollar is constantly devaluing. The military industrial [& prison] complex are sucking off the tax payer teet to fund endless war (mass murder) and imprison people for exercising their liberties. I bet you're in favor of them too huh? Living the AMERICAN DREAM. The bankers must be overachievers, since they only got bailed out with trillions of dollars and are wealthy enough to feed the world. But look....at all these underachievers wanting entitlements, wanting free food or shelter. How dare they!

Useless post like this that attack all anti-corporate-greed people as socialist communist proponents.... Please, get out of here. Your attitude is disgusting and elite-apologist material.

Well aren’t you the lucky then hey, well done you.

It would be good if were all born with the brains to comprehend the knowledge of one so awesome as yourself.
Wait then who would clean the local toilets, who would work the canneries, who would work long crappy hours for a few bucks serving your dinner from the menu, who would wash those dishes at the restaurant and mop the floors.

Guess you’re lucky there are the less fortunate to take care of those jobs
.
It’s good to have a rant hey. Thanks for letting me have mine.

You know I read through this thread and I am kind of appalled. Just read the title of the thread - I've had it with you entitlement-bred underachievers - Many of you are so offended by what he says. Unless your what he is referring to why the need for such angst? I don't agree with some of what he says but I tell you what, he can say whatever he wants in my book.
I too am sympathetic with OWS. I have had a thing against Wall Street/D.C. connection and the Federal Reserve and other aspects for 30 years! I grew up with a silver spoon in my mouth. I have a close relative who was CEO of a Fortune 500 company for over 10 years. I have had many opportunities which would make some folks drool at the prospect. Well I'm no millionaire. I have seen that rung of the ladder and sure they have money but they have bigger, sillier problems. I digress
.
My point is I don't think any of you who seem so angsty grew up living off handouts from the government. Look we all get some kind of benefit from the government. I myself am similar to the OP as I too went in the military and used the G.I. bill to go to college. I took every shortcut I could to lessen the cost. It can be done if your willing to be savvy enough; AP testing, CLEP testing, Life experience credit, etc.. I don't want a handout from my family nor do I want anything from the government either other than some basic things which is what they should be providing for anyhow.

Look anyone of you would/should protect home and family from any kind of harm. The OP is pissed off too. We all have that common ground . Self reliance is a noble American trait. It is good people are speaking out and letting their anger be known! Whatever it is. Sure there are some who are caught up in the stir who are misguided but hey set them straight. Nobody wants anything more than a closer to level playing field than it is at this time. Am I right?

You say all you can do is vote? The system is rigged.. voting will not change anything.

You are the one who feels entitled to anything.. taking our tax money for food stamps when you were in the military.. appalling.. I have family and friends in the military, even the lowest ranks do not need food stamps.

Honestly.. take anything away from your family? Like what some of your taxes? Are you afraid this is some sort of socialist communist movement trying to take your hard earned money? You are the one who was on food stamps.. You are going to take socialist help and then get angry over a movement that isn't about socialism or communism?

judging by OPs responses I think he'd agree that you need to replace "occupy" and "ows" with "FED" and "corrupt" for it to make any sense.

Who has been stealing from you again?

It's an imaginary line created to make you act the way you are acting now. Forget the line and ask yourself what's right? Calling someone out based on what side of the line they stand on is a diversionary tactic.. Rise above it people.

This statement is IMO the main reason this movement hasn't taken off as planned. When this statement becomes cemented in America's minds things will advance quickly. Of course the main problem is corporate money influence politicians. I don't care who is out there protesting. Whether its animal testing lobbied by pharmaceuticals, holding back technology advances lobbied by big oil, or whatever your reason. Most issues can start to be addressed by legitimate politicians who vote with the best interests of the population in mind. They are out there, but they are dogged down by "fellow" politicians who are more interested in relection and lining of their pockets not to mention the addiction to the power of being in said positions.

OP I respect what you have done. I am also a veteran. I am also working towards by Masters. I have also received food stamp assistance when I was young due to my father dying of Juvenile Diabetes diagnosed at 12. My mother worked two jobs to support us and eventually got it all figured out. I can understand your frustration even though I am part of what most people consider "a food stamp success story" but I too have seen more people abuse this system than embrace it for its true intent.

Lastly, you embrace your times of eating mac and cheese as part of your struggle, a badge of honor as sorts. I understand this struggle as I have put many generation of the "Ramen" family through college myself. Cost of higher education has become too high. I have paid over $300 for a single book in subjects such as Organic Chemistry and as I'm sure you know how expensive Physics and Engineering textbooks can be. Only to find myself selling this same book back after one semester for the $40 used price to help pay for my next $300 book and more Ramen. America has too many great minds wasting away while they slave to fill their gas tank, pay their taxes and paying student loans. These minds could be liberated through more affordable education to help make this country better for future generations.

The fact that Americans will probably remain willfully ignorant of the big red, white and blue d*** that’s being jammed up their ***holes everyday, because the owners of this country know the truth. It’s called the American Dream cause you have to be asleep to believe it . . .” -Gerorge Carlin

So being a defense contractor means you're already getting taxpayer money.

People who are trying to change a broken system are wrong for doing so? Just because you don't agree with some of them.

In your field nearly every job available to you is government funded one way or another.

I'm not a defense contractor anymore, but I actually earned every penny I got paid. So you have a problem with defense contractors and think we should expand our military to cover those jobs? Off you go.

Why yes i do... im in the marine corps and while i was in afghanistan i played poker with some contractors. One in particular, was getting $250,000 a year to teach the LNP (local national police) to drive tactical vehicles. I'm motor T and my job is to drive tactical vehicles (which are incredibly simple to operate). So he makes in one paycheck what i make in 6 months of deployment.... When me or any other person smart enough to drive a truck could do the same job for dirt cheap compared to his wages. Not to mention he worked 6 hour days, 4 days a week while i work a minimum of 12 hours a day, 7 days a week. sounds like government wasting tax dollars to me. Get rid of contractors other than extremely well qualified few.

On a side note of government waste, our tax dollars were feeding convicted taliban members in prison baskin robins ice cream on a daily basis. (that infuriated me as much as the last paragraph)

Got my graduate degree, paid off all my student loans with a job as a defense contractor. Mac & Cheese. We did it, we managed our budget and we are now totally debt free. American Dream: we sacrificed for a while, toughed it out and now we're good. This is what those people at OWS don't get. There's a poem: something like:
The American Dream? You are still blabbering on with that bullcrap like it means something. WAKE UP! You said it yourself, the system is rigged. You think unemployment is on the rise because people are lazy or stupid? You think the national debt is so high because the Government needs to feed poor people?

So to you OWS supporters: I owe you nothing. I will give you nothing. If you try to take it from my family, I will exercise the appropriate amount of force.
Why would you think the OWS supporters are targeting people like you?!? Get a grip. The problem is too big to fail banks and the FED. The problem is the top 1% of people who own nearly half of the worlds wealth. This is much more than just an American things, it has taken off around the world, and for GOOD REASONS. People are simply getting sick and tired of the corruption and insane inequality inherent in the system. They don't want to rob you of anything, they want to implement change which will stop these greedy scum bags from sucking the masses dry.

I applaud you and your determination. I also thank you for your service. I also served 10 years and I have done alright since getting out. I only got a Bachelors, but it does me no good anyway.

I am not interested in working for any major companies or bribing any government workers for contracts. I don't like to feel dirty from padding pockets to get contracts.

Maybe you were fortunate enough not to have to do anything illegal or unethical to get your position. If so I applaud you. The more common route is through bribery.

You may think the people at the Occupy movement want your money, but I doubt you have enough to raise any eyebrows there. You do not own a major corporation that pays no taxes or consistently bribes politicians and regulators/judges to pass legislation for your company.

You may think since you have money in the bank and your student loans paid off you are the target of this movement, but you are way off. You may think that our system is fine and it needs no fixing because YOU were able to make it. So how does that make the rampant corruption OK? What does that have to do with the constant wars being waged on innocent people?

I think you have bought into this misinformation by MSM and even ats etc. about the intentions of the occupiers. They want control of their government back. This is not about the people who worked hard to get a good job. This is about corporations who abuse the system. It is about corrupt government. If you support both then maybe the occupiers DO want your money because you support corruption, not because you worked hard for your money.

I get it. Oh, believe me, I get it. The system is broken, but what i DO ABOUT IT is vote, and I call and e-mail my representatives and senate members. For you to imply I don't do anything is incorrect. I do what I can within the law.

Where was the "moan" part? seriously? you're just throwing rocks hippie.

HIPPIE?

I am sure your representative listens to what YOU say. They vote the way their LOBBYIST PAYS THEM TO VOTE. So write away until your callouses work down to the bone.

BTW, you have shown your ignorance in thinking that everyone in the occupy movement is a HIPPIE. It is typical of the uninformed retards listening to FOX and other FAUX NEWS sources. Just realize that Fox admitted in court they are not a real news source. They stated they can make up stories since they are "ENTERTAINMENT NEWS" which makes it convenient when they get busted making up stories to suit their or their investor's interests.

Please go right ahead and support the corruption since you are way smarter than everyone else though. Realize, however, that there are two sides in this movement and you need to decide right now if you support corruption and lies or fairness and truth.

I've Had it With You Entitlement-bred Underachievers

As we've had it with your futile attempts to paint this movement as socialist. In fact, if the core goal was achieved, you, being the non bank owning person you are, would get to keep MORE of your money, because the government wouldn't have to squeeze you to make up for the taxes those banks and corporations aren't paying.

Or are you ok with the government handing YOUR money over to those gamblers to pay off their bad investments?

i may not agree w/ all of their demands.
for instance - open borders.
but i agree w/ their right to peaceably assemble - as does the first amendment to the constitution.
as they say:
'respect my first or i'll invoke my second.'
btw - we (U.S.) doesn't have much of a gubberment.
they all thieve us.
any time they make so much - not to mention the kzars - 80k a year for a condom dispenser???wtf???

vote for Ron Paul - he'll make 39k a year - that is the common wage earner.

I've earned, bled, for everything I have and you will not take it from me. This. Is Liberty.

Your anger is misdirected and i feel you dont know what OWS is standing for. Its much bigger than OWS, its bigger than the police, its even bigger than the government. Its about the Shadow government / global Elites / Bilderberg group. what ever you want to call "them" its about our freedom which is so cleverly being taken away from us right before all our eyes. Yeah OWS, and many people still dont know what or who to aim the anger at (including you so it would seem) but we all know there is something wrong in this world. For the moment THAT is enough. Time will reveal all.

Ever heard of the 100 monkey experiment ? tell me about it if you have and the tests that followed on human people, ( dont worry its not a trick question, its a pretty cool experiment)
but this is what im referring to when "time will reveal all".

I, and the majority human citizen on this planet, the billions living in abject poverty, or in the fringes in the first world nations, have had it with those who feel they're all that and entitled to homes, liberty, food and happiness, because they have opportunities, health, are unencumbered, pat themselves on the back for finding that 1 out of a million super responsible spouse, and in short, are flukes to the human race. And the rest are just wining, losers who feel they're entitled to be alive and just shut up you majority world wide or anyone not as blessed as I AM, and just die!

Because thats the underscore message I get from America and its programming in ever so many posts online.

And you know, we don't care how many people are brainwashed and programmed, or think they are all that, when all of humanity can live equally and well, as they are, their makeup, health, cicumstances, then we're in a good system.

Think of a family and try opportunity under your principles and you'll see who's patting themselves on the back. Meanwhile the ones sick, you're out of the game, your sister who left her abusive husband with the child, your out of the game, your mother after dad died, and used the morgage to recover from cancer, now homeless, your out of the game. Your younger brother who goes into massive debt to try and be like you, you're out of the game!!! Your cousins overseas. Your out of the game!!!!

What if the majority don't even want to be in your game!!! I consider your game crimes against humanity!

Wake up.
