Real IRA admits bomb attacks on Northern Ireland banks

www.guardian.co.uk

The Real IRA has admitted bombing two banks in Northern Ireland as well as the UK City of Culture office in Derry, and has warned that it will continue to target economic interests.

In a statement to the Guardian laced with anti-capitalist rhetoric, the Real IRA said the bombings and future targeting of the banking system were its response to bankers' "greed" and were meant "to send out the message that while the Irish national and class struggles are distinct, they are not separate".

The attacks and the language used in attempting to justify them appeared designed to tap into the w

Seems like they want to milk the current resentment for banks, for their own purpose. What's actually scary, a lof of people in the world may get the same idea, that bombing or setting your local branch of some bank on fire, will do any good.
In this case, even we obviously share the same enemy, those actions have to be condemned with full force.
We can't let terrorist organization, involved massively in trafficking drugs, to speak for entire movement.
Im sure this will re-surface in MSM as accusation against protesters, even though bombings had taken place in may and august, so before whole Occupy thing started.
Oh, bombed banks were Santander and Ulster Bank, Royal Bank of Scotland Group subsidiary.

The banks are our friends. They are only looking out for us.

Just kidding, could you imagine?

Anyways, blowing up random banks is a step backwards. Blowing up anything at all really does no good.

However, i really have no ideas on how to fight them peacefully. Someone should invent speech bombs or something(?).

their hearts are in the right place.. but their methods leave much to be desired..
They should kneecap the bankers rather than blowing up buildings..

Say what?! Read a little about Omagh bombing, and then rethink your "hearts in right place" phrase.
Facts are, neither people from ROI nor NI really desire a union between each other.

Thats what I said in op, no tolerance, no justifying, because it will be used against us. And really, majority of PIRA and RIRA work, is trafficking drugs. I bet it also serves their cause.

I so much agree with you on that. Nations can't unite even in their own borders, because there so much divisions put in place, race, religion, political preferences, wealthiness, gender, to start with most obvious.

I oppose banks, but don't want to be associated with murderers, because they are doing the same.
