Dont' shoot the messenger. Just saw this pop up on my twitter feed.

Apparently it was used against the elderly, disabled, press and children...but who knows.

You can also see realtime updates here.

It's trending worldwide currently too, so it not just gonna fade away so easily me thinks.

Obviously, its difficult to discern whats really going down, but it doesn't sound pretty.

This is what I do not get about OWS and movements like it. They want all of these government programs to pay for college, pay for healthcare, redistribute wealth, fix global warming, etc... But the smaller government they have now use the tax revenue they receive to buy weapons to control them. It would be like a slave saving his money to buy his master a new whip.

Thanks for the links. Seems that there are still quite a few people there, both protesters and a large amount of police officers.

What are you talking about... Every single person has their own personal grievances and thoughts... I personally dont want any govt help, I dont even want to ever hear the word again.. lol

Your post has nothing to do with the topic at hand... start your own thread on your thoughts if you feel you must get them out about your dislike of OWS, "or movements like it" whatever that means

And you know, whether you support the OWS people or not (for the record, I still don't know), the way these cops have been acting in some cases, where the use of force (much less tear gas) seemed unwarranted is an embarrassment.

Sure, laws, rules, etc may have been pushed or bent a bit, but from everything I've read over the last few weeks, that's not always the case.

Oh hai police state.

It has plenty to do with the topic at hand. These people want things that could only be provided by a larger more socialist government. The problem is that the bigger and more money the government gets the more it buys weapons to control its populace. So it applies to this thread, because the police, who are part of the government are tear gassing their own citizens. Get it now?

How am i trying to derail the thread? The whole thread is about government, the police, using force (teargas) against its own citizens.

This is ridiculous!!!!!
It is irrelevant if you agree with the protesters, I don't, but Americans have the right to protest.

OWS will either ...

A) Fade away as the winter cold sets in and most go home while the rest are rounded up
B) Get "moltov" violent

History says so.

The system as it exist will not shift until people understand that force has to be met with force. These movements will be crushed as long as people are passive cattle. When the citizenry is met with open and flagrant violation of personal liberties and rights guaranteed by the blood of our forefathers and the constitution the only solution is for the blood of both patriots and tyrants to fill the streets again.

The police are programed and utterly disconnected. They have a singular priority, they do this for a check and will follow orders no matter how wrong they may be. Just like any group of men to commit atrocities in the past " I was just following orders ". They feel no personal liability, they don't care if they are stomping the principals of this nation under their boots.

The only way they will understand is when the people fight back, when casualties mount and they are forced to question just what it is that's happening around them and only then.

The whole thread about is about the government? Not about police tear gassing what appears to be peaceful protesters? Something is wrong with your browser because i think you are replying to the wrong thread.

I do not answer stupid questions like that one. You said the whole thread is about the government, i simply pointed out it was much more then that.

A rubber bullet to the head? That's how police are now dealing with protesters? This is going to get worse. Knowing Oakland, living nearby, and how they have protested in the past, and with SF to offer support, this is only the beginning. The cops made this a whole to worse tonight.

By the way, I've seen some messages on twitter from people there. They've said they've seen a wheelchair bound women stranded in thick tear gas. Children and the elderly both getting gassed numerous times and shot with rubber bullets. Police basically went after anyone and everyone.
