We have a lot of lizards and skinks around my house as we have a lot of rock walls and such and they just LOVE those.
I'd choose a lizard over a snake any day. We do get snakes too - got a huge maybe 6' king snake on the carport one day. Scared the poor USPS man nearly to death, he threw all the mail down and ran. We caught him in PVC and moved him safely to some woods.

We have to protect each other from snakes. They can have the rats, and vice versa.

I am laughing so hard I can hardly see. I had to read this three times before I realized it was the snake you caught in PVC and moved safely to the woods and not the mailman. I guess I am a little slow today! The image of you chasing down the poor USPS guy really made my day!
