If a group of people can simply decide to come at you and deny you the 'right' to live, own property, etc - for any random reason they come up with... what stops them from taking: "We don't like pedophiles and think they should be killed" and turn it into: "We don't like bankers, and think they should be killed?"

Why not? Many think a number of the bankers out there are breaking laws and cheating people out of money. Doesn't take a massive leap of logic.

On the other hand - I can point out the more liberal element, who tend to collect government subsidies for standards of living and call them moral and ethical cheats.

You can turn around and call me a moral and ethical cheat for not thinking another person has a right to a standard of living to be provided for by the society around him/her.

And so on. Before you know it, we're all cheats, cons, and the bane of someone's existence (groups like pedophiles are likely more universally disliked - but they are merely the catalyst and the precedent for going on door-to-door witch-hunts to satisfy some odd blood-lust).

It's called "mission creep" in the military: "We entered Vietnam to help teach the South Vietnamese how to operate an effective military resistance against the communist North Vietnam... one thing led to another... and we kicked off Operation Rolling Thunder for one of the largest bombing campaigns in history."

Mobs are, notoriously, worse at keeping mission creep under control.

Its not about who likes them, because every healthy normal human naturally likes the opposite sex from puberty onwards, not magically from 18 years of age. Yet the limit is set at 18 because thats when young people are judged capable of consenting to produce porn.

You wont find morality in nature.

That said, 13-18 is a grey area, and I would not necessarily disagree if the laws were changed to be less restricting in this age range.

What does that have to do with anything?

If someone is in the act of abusing a kid around me, I will do what is necessary to expedite the ceasing of said abuse. That may include the application of lethal force (it can be ... rationalized ... using the criteria for the use of deadly force - but it's not a freebie).

If someone is not currently in the act of doing something that puts someone at risk - I cannot justify using any force beyond what is necessary to perform a citizen's arrest - if that is appropriate.

As for my kids - I will do my best to teach them right from wrong, arts of self-defense, and do my best to keep them out of comprising situations.

You cannot, however, use "I have kids" to try and make an emotional appeal to justify your standpoint. It simply doesn't work. I've younger family members I would sacrifice untold amounts for. Dying doesn't even really describe it... that's a cop-out... once you're dead, there's no longer anything you can do - you've taken yourself out of the equation and left people behind. Similarly - I've had junior students and neighbors several years my junior whom I would risk life and limb for.... some of them, I'd do more for them than their parents would.

I'm sure my own children will hold a place in my life that no other beings can - but I can assure you, it will not change my position on this issue. There is a time for violence, and a time for strategy. Justice is rarely served at the hands of the angry.
