My 5 and 7 year old got in trouble for hugging eachother at recess. I guess they have a no touching policy and hugs and pushing hitting are treated equally. Can you say Orwellian! In fact that is what I said to the Principal...."How Orwellian".
I told my kids to keep hugging. Some rules should be broken.

Sad day when you have to fight the man just to hug. Honestly, schools seem to just be prepping kids for passiveness. Not that theirs anything wrong with being a pacifist, but when its taught by the state then you know its for the wrong reason.

well if their family and the school knows it id tell um to stick it....idc if there is a no touching rule...if they want to hug because they are family and its not aggressive who are they to discipline my children for showing each other family love.....its bonds like these that keep children close and strong....breaking it and telling them bad only teaches them that later on hugging is unacceptable..

so if you tell a kid hugging isnt allowed because we have a no touch rule...doesnt that imply your teaching them affection is bad?

You actually had to see their principal because they hugged on a playground.......My daughter is 9 and I try my best to be involved with her school. Whenever I am walking through the halls with her at school there are constantly kids coming up to her and smiling and giving her hugs. I see no problem with that what so ever, I am just curious as to what kind of as##hole actually would. I don't know, if I got a call to come to my kids school to see the principal, I got there and they said.....Your kid hugged someone! I think I would flip out on them and tell them just how stupid they are for thinking hugs are wrong and wasting MY time. It wouldn't be pretty.

Rise against the machine!!

God forbid people follow rules anymore.Or teach their children to. Rules are rules. Were your kids arrested ? No. What are you crying about then? Not worthy of a thread. Get a grip.

I am currently doing a business admin course...(kinda have to or my social security gets axed)
A woman in my class put her hands on my shoulders today and It was like the best drug i've ever had. I realized that it has been more then a year since someone actually, intentionally, touched me.
You can't imagine how it affects a persons mind to be deprived of physical contact for extended periods.
I felt like crying, it was that sort of emotional response. I felt like i'd just won the lottery, absolutely amazing and completely non-sexual.

How does it affect children to be deprived i wonder, if an adult like myself can almost lose my composure over a brief interaction?

I am not trying to be funny here, you REALLY need to get out more. Being alone that long isn't healthy no matter what reason you are doing it for. Go to a club this weekend or just walk around your neighborhood and meet people.....something. You need a HUG

Yeah, fair call. But it's not as it seems. I have friends and get out a lot, i just don't try to date women because i don't have a job or money to facilitate the building of a 'Modern' relationship, I'm not calling women shallow or anything it's just that, well, who wants to be with a penniless deadbeat who can't even afford to buy a birthday/christmas/i love you presents or take them out on the town etc? and my friends, well, we aren't the Man hugging man type. I mean we are all single and i'm sure the rumourmills have enough fun with it as it is.

But Yeah! I do need a hug. I really need to find work!

Yes it's a sick thing to tell children not to hug or show true affection for one another. ( especially siblings ) . But they don't mind letting them have access to porn or cigs or booze. Love between your kids won't profit our treasonist Govt. So what do they care? They want division between us and are working overtime on it.. S/F

There is no cigs, porn or booze at my kids elementary school.....what are you talking about? If there was I would never leave.

If your kids are going to a school were they have access to these things you may consider sending them to a different school.

I'm not surprised this happened. Schools today seem to be little prison/indoctrination camps.

My kid goes to the same elementary school I attended. I was able to go spend some time with her or being student of the week. I was shocked at how restricted and regimented everything is. At the start of the day, they were conditioned to freeze in place upon hearing a whistle. They were then given instructions to proceed to their class lines painted on the concrete. They then awaited their second whistle to begin marching towards their respective class rooms.

The lunch room was just as bad. On entry, they were only allowed one paper towel to dry their hands at the sinks, so many kids went on with wet hands. They have a person whose title is disciplinarian. He is in charge of regulating the behavior and flow of the kids. He literally had a dozen stop watches out and were timing groups to the second. Kids were allocated a single thin napkin, and they had to silently get the attention of on of the two or three teachers or aids parading up and down the isles if they needed another. I saw many kids leave with dirty hands and mouths because they didn't or couldn't get additional napkins. The kids had no more than 15 minutes to eat, but it felt like less.

This is at a public school. When I attended, none of this occurred. Additionally, now, kids have to wear uniforms. Not the case in my day. The school board said it was to have all the kids equal so no one could get teased for clothes or develop clothing based identifiable social cliques.

I desperately want to home school my kid now.

Not surprising.

It's been about 10 years since I went to an elementary school, and all I really remember are the millions of bogus rules we all had to follow. I mean don't get me wrong, rules are fine, but to expect 10 year old kids to be completely silent during their lunch/break time is just too much.

There was one time, that my 3rd grade teacher told our class we didn't have to wear our boots outside for recess because there was no snow on the ground, but the douchebag monitors made everyone stand on the wall for the whole recess. Our teacher was pissed when she found out. Not all the authorities at an elementary school are complete Nazi's but the ones that are really overshadow the ones that aren't.

All is not lost... Here is a hug

This is the message from video post

..."Free Hugs is the real life controversial story of Juan Mann, a man whose sole mission was to reach out and hug a stranger to put a smile on their face.
In this age of social-disconnection most all of us lack that simple human touch from another, the effects of the Free Hugs Campaign are now felt around the globe.
As this simple gesture of kindness and hope spread across the city, police and officials ordered the Free Hugs Campaign BANNED.
What we then witnessed was the true spirit of humanity as people came together in what can only be described as something awe inspiring.
In the spirit of the Free Hugs Campaign please pass this video to a friend and HUG a stranger! After all, you CAN make a difference..."

Hugging should not be allowed in any way,

How dare anyone think they can let their children grow up and have non sexual human connection.

This is digusting all hugging children need to be re educated and shown how they should behave now!

it can be found here:
Mother Dresses girl aged 3 as prostitute in toddlers and tiaras

This is how the new American child should be taught there place, value and behavior in modern society.

Reward sexualisation and punish love.

Kind Regards,

Elf

This is one of the reasons why rules piss me off.

So many people have a rigid interpretation of them, completely devoid of any common sense. It should be blatantly obvious that two children hugging are not being violent or touching ''inappropriately'', so why can't those in charge just use their noddle and enforce rules sensibly and appropriately ?

Its a medical fact that babies die without human contact. I can't recall the time it takes but it was faster then I expected. Thats why the hospitals ward nurses physically touch/rub/hold all the babies a couple times a day. I remember seeing a documentary about it, the soviets, germans and probably the us too all did studies back in the first half of the century and all the babies that didn't have contact had a 100% mortality rate. They put them on IV's, feeding tubes, and catheter so physically they had everything they needed.

Pull your kid out, I am not joking here, homeschooling was the best choice my parents and I ever made. I grew up in schools like what you just said. They made you follow a line to your classroom, obey a whistle like a dog would, restricted your lunch time and if you got ‘too loud’ then the entire cafeteria would have to go silent and put your head on that filthy table. No touching of any kind was permitted; hugging, handshake, high five, pat on back, etc… even between siblings. We were barred from bringing a Bible to school, you could not say God in the classroom, wearing the American flag was not okay because apparently it is insensitive and a sign of discrimination.

Your child is being trained like a damn dog and if they have not broken him/her already because you have instilled strong, moral values in them then they will definitely not stop until they do break your child. Then your own kid will be obedient like a dog to all authority except you, the parent, please just trust me on this one. I became homeschooled in the 8th grade and it is apparent what happens to you in public school.
