Many people question why EBE's have 2 eyes, a nose and a mouth in roughly the proportions of a human face.
It is likely most probable that this is the case as in nature, it can convey a strong message, particularly when animals, particularly arachnids, depict it for camouflage reasons.

See here,

here,

....and here

If nature on earth has come up with this layout across many species, usually primates, likely it is the template for sentient bipedals from elsewhere, namely the most sensible, and successful layout of sensory organs.

When animals use the layout as camouflage in nature when their very lives depend on it, it must convey a striking message to would be predators.

Just a thought.

What do you mean mostly primates? The combination of two eyes, a nose, and a mouth can be found in many different animal types, such as reptiles, birds, fish, etc. as well as mammals and primates specifically.

Seems to be kind of a go to layout, so I'd imagine it isn't a stretch to assume life on other worlds would follow the design template.

Our brains may make the spiders camo look like a face but thats still pretty cool.

The possibilities are endless out there, im sure there are plenty of beings somewhat similar to us in shape and appearance, but plenty out there would be nothing at all like us, they may not even be carbon based life forms like we are.

Hopefully sometime in our lives we will get to see

I agree Gazrok,
but Primates have facial features that are more in proportion to our own, than say a horse,
whose head and muzzle have evolved for a specific need.

Most likely a visiting alien will look typically more like this(hopefully with more colour)....

or extreme predatorial versions like Ripley's friend....

and less likely to look like this....

My favourite is this,
whoever came up with it, is a pure genius in creativity,
I say give it a soul and let it loose

Wouldn't want to meet it mind you,
it's head looks as if it was recently withdrawn from a carcass...

For once the skin has a bit of texture, muscle creases and convincing colour.

Alleged ET images are depicted like the dinosaurs are, mono tonal and dull.
Most likely dinosaurs had the same variety of colours as are seen in the bird kingdom,
extreme and vivid.

Humans tend to anthrophomorphise everything.
I doubt, statistically speaking, that life on other planets may resemble our own.
Maybe echological-niche wise, to an extent, but not in appearance.
The odds of a species basically identical on a morphological level to our own landing here are extremely low.
My 2 cents are.. anthrophomorphical EBEs mean either of 2 things:
-life on earth may very well have been influenced on a genetical level by the very same EBEs.
-they're just delusions.
-they may look differently i.e. those are actually robots/enginereed beings just operating on Earth.

Of course, this is all highly hypothetical..
