Journalist and author Max du Preez has rubbished an ANC attack on him for supposedly calling the ruling party's leaders "motherf***ers".
ANC spokesman Jackson Mthembu released a statement criticising Du Preez's "outburst" and said he had no right "to use such language ... or to be the bully on the block attempting to hurt people with words".
Mthembu said Du Preez owed South Africans an apology.

His status read: "An old ANC comrade sent me an e-mail with great fury over the ANC and the Dalai Lama debacle. 'Such maaifoedies!' he said. I got to wondering where this nice old word comes from."
Du Preez says the word, which is of Malay-Portuguese origin, is Afrikaans for motherf***er.
It is not the first time Du Preez has found himself under attack by the ANC.
