I can't believe I punched this thread thru before typing the first word.

Increase your water intake. I suffered migraines for years. About ten years ago I got rid of them by drinking only
purified water and doubling my intake. No soda pop, coffee, Kool aid, milk, nothing but purified water. And I mean alot of it. Cut down on your sugar intake and try to drink 13 8 oz. glasses a day. You may not make 13 but if you try to get close to that, it will help.

This is especially true for people on prescription drugs. You need to flush that crap out of you Thin the blood so it will flo. This just came to me one day after years of seeing doctors. I fixed the problem myself. There are no substitutes for doctors tho. But I believe this is something they just don't tell you. So what ever they tell you put this advice with it. Can't hurt you to try.

Cheers

I've told my son this very thing. Dehydration creeps in and your body screams upon your head like a hammer.

aha yeah its really a no brainer (excuse the pun) but no one seems to realise how good water is for headaches and migranes.
ive convinced hundreds of people through the years that paracetamol is pointless when it comes to headaches
something like 90% of headaces are due to lack of water..

I tried Viagra, which is a fairly extreme vasodilator.

The quality of the migraine it gave me was astounding!

I would recommend it to anyone wanting a truly awe inspiring migraine experience.

It cost a lot, too.

For over ten years I'd get "cluster" headaches. I was told they're not migraines but very debilitating. Just last year I've changed my diet...kind of a modified Gerson therapy...and have yet to suffer from one.

Oops, sorry. I guess I should have been patient lol

Very good post. I cut out soda and started drinking more water a few years ago and the difference is amazing. No more migraines.

I had heard about the water, which is also good for cramps in the legs. Adequate hydration can alleviate lots of aches and pains.

Here is another one to try for the migraines.

An herbal remedy book I have says chewing leaves from the feverfew plant will help. I haven't had a chance yet, but I was going to ask my sister to try it, she has suffered from migraines for years.

I don't even get headaches, much less migraines, which is why I haven't tried it.

Feverfew is growing in my garden. It is an aromatic plant with bright green leaves and small white daisy-like flowers with yellow centers. It self seeds and grows quite prolifically in just about any setting. It is very drought resistant. If you want to try growing some, you can buy seed for the plant wherever herb seeds are sold.

I also suffer form migraines and it doesn't have anything to do with water.

I am diabetic and every time my sugars dip low (hypoglycemia), I'll get a migraine within an hour, that stays usually between 6 and 12 hours.

My original doctor was trying to sort out my migraines, which I had been getting since i was 18 (I was 40 at the time) and he suggested that I take a glucose tolerance test.

His suspicion was that I had suffered from borderline and therefore undiagnosed type 1 diabetes, for years.

I would suggest that anyone who gets migraines that don't seem to be alleviated by diet & de-stressing should discuss getting a glucose tolerance test with their GP.

It's no cure, but it may save you from worse effects later.

I have suffered from migraines most of my life, at times they were so bad, I had to lay in a dark room with a cold washcloth over my eyes..those of you that suffer from migraines know what I'm talking about. I have found that in my adult life by drinking more water, and cutting out the caffeine and sugar have really helped. Every once in awhile I still get a nasty screamer, but we just have to deal with it.

I had migraines all of my life -- my father a doctor - diagnosed them as sinus headaches -- it turns out my father was not that good a doctor. My wife gave me a Sumatriptan tab one time during a particularly bad headache -- the pain was completely gone in 20 minutes, really changed my life. Turns out Sumatriptan is so effective that it is used to diagnose migraines. Like I said it changed my life.

The water thing is good to dehydration can bring on a wicked headache.

K This is how bad they would get for me. All I could do to alleviate the pain. Was lay down on my back on the bed and press on my eyes, as hard as could. Deep in the center of my head. To this day I dread them coming back. Water is so beautiful.

K I'm not a doctor by any means alright. Pretty much all I know is what I've already said. Can you help me out and clear your post up a little please. It's a bit vague the way it is. If I can help out somehow ? I'd love to.

go see a competent osteopath/chiro and get your neck and back adjusted. be sure the person you choose softens the area by massage or other means before adjusting. your upper neck is certain to be full of tension.
