Any avid Japanese movie fans on ATS who can recommend me something to watch? I'm looking for the best. It doesn't matter what it's about, a great movie is a great movie. Thanks.

I second Old Boy. Just. Amazing. I think it's South Korean but it's on Tartan Asia so I hope it counts because it's awesome.

There was a couple of moments that blew my mind but I won't give anything away.

Slow movies with good story lines:
Departures, Dear Doctor, Heavenly Forest (My Gf made me watch this one), What the snow brings, Nobody knows,
If you like fighting crows zero1 & 2 is a must, Drop, Gantz......

Will drop more titles when I can remember.

I watched Audition last week and really enjoyed it buuuut maybe I'm dumb because there was something I just didn't get. I won't ask you to tell me because I don't want to give anything away to anyone that hasn't watched it yet.

I remember watching that, Also watched Tokyo Story! It didn't hit me up until last year why those movies were so popular. The character growth and the story lines were phenomenon at a time when American movies lacked plots.

Some of the best KOREAN movies I've watched were:
Haebaragi
The Man from Nowhere
Millionaires first love (Gf forced me to watch it, Really enjoyed it).

Thanks peeps.

I'm seeing how some great movies can stick in the mind. > Oldboy already in my ever expanding South Korean collection.

www.abovetopsecret.com...

I've tried IMDB for some Japanese movies but mostly it's anime stuff I'm finding. Spirited Away my favourite. But of the ones with real people in them I've seen only a few. Ichi the Killer, Goemon, Death Note and just a couple of others, so I'm guessing there's dozens of great movies that I'm missing out on.
