North Carolina House passes same sex marriage ban

The North Carolina House of Representatives has approved an amendment to the state constitution that would define marriage as solely between one man and one woman.
The Republican-controlled House passed the proposed amendment in a 75 to 42 vote on Monday after a three-hour debate. If the state Senate also approves the proposed amendment, North Carolina voters would ultimately decide its fate in a statewide referendum on next May's primary date

This is one of the main reason I stop going to church and stop reading the bible Christianity teaches nothing but hatred, bigotry, ignorance, and out laddish lies. What really makes me angry is these so call Christians right wingers have spent probably millions of dollars in church donations from their congregations to lobbyist to pad the republican’s pockets for their next election.

"It is simply un-American to single out any group of law-abiding citizens to harass and torment," he added. "Every time we select a set of folks to exclude from America's dream of a better life, the results are detrimental to our nation."
The proposed amendment would allow companies to offer benefits to employees in domestic partnerships, but some law professors have warned that the language could invalidate domestic violence laws and disrupt child custody cases

Just so we're all clear; that's thirty states that have constitutionally denied recognizing a marriage between two people.

All you god believers - - - please get married in your church - - - and leave the Legal Marriage to the rest of us.

What does this even mean Annee? Catholics get married in a Catholic church, Lutherans in Lutheran church, Baptists in Baptist church, and atheists at City Hall. But everyone has to make a trip to City Hall.

Married in church alone - - - without the government contract.

If its all about god - - - then forget the legal part.

Also, why do gays want a legal marriage? What do they hope to gain other than being married?

Really?

This is a serious question?

Silly liberals. Don't you understand the gays are just immoral hyper-sexed pseudo-humans, just like teh wimenz, blacks, and Muslims? They don't really deserve to be treated like real people.

Note my sarcasm before anyone flips out, please.

Pathetic in the so-called Land of the Free to not give the same marital freedom to a group because of something as mundane as orientation. Weak minds prevent great achievements. Remember that when the good ol' US exists as just a blurb in a history book.

You know, for people who are trying to speak out against your so called 'bigotry', you sure are doing it yourselves. Hypocrisy is a disease, and so is hate. But anyways, on topic, good this is being handled on the state level. If the majority of the population is against it(doesnt say), it should pass. If majority against, it shouldnt. Im indifferent towards the topic, however I would still prefer marriage stay strictly between man and woman. Im pretty sure that decision relies on the churches however. Wouldnt be surprised if the same people who support gay marriage(you guys!), support forcing churches to allow it.
