I'm expecting a sighting above Auckland Friday week....9th Sept for the opening of the Rugby World Cup, look beyond the fireworks.....

Now that is interesting to say the least but im sure the non believers will be here any min. saying its a Chinese lantern of course 90% percent of the people that say that probably never even seen a Chinese lantern before besides pictures on the web especially at night but then again the government likes it that way

I obviously hear a helicopter from the 1 minute mark when the light moves more towards the people filming it, and that is just what it looks like, a searchlight on a helicopter. The thing in the distance seems to be a spotlight directed at the clouds.

A blimp was my first guess too. The maneuvers performed at the end of the video are nothing like any blimp I have ever seen. Just my opinion though, I am no expert on blimps.

It looked too big to be a blimp, but the darkness and choppy video makes it difficult to perceive the distance and size so I can be totally wrong. Maybe there were more sightings? Let's hop so.

BTW thanks for posting this OP. I have never seen this footage before. It is very interesting.

The above poster who mentioned a helicopter and search light made a good point. That is a pretty good observation.

Im going with blimp.....or blimp like balloon.

It may be attached by a rope....gust of wind blows it to the right. There appears to be a light below it...on the rope.





EDIT: The light isnt below it....it may be a helicopter near by or a light on top of a building. If it were a searchlight....you would see the beam of light...like this

You probably heard, but in case you didn't they repeatedly speak it's a balloon, especially the woman's voice.
Not once mention of UFO in that vid....
I will write what I could comprehend from the chatter.... It's hard
That thing is above a bridge. It is flying around the bridge. Mostly random chatter and then again balloon is there on a bridge. at around 1:03 a woman says it is recording and mentions it is moving fast [the balloon].
Then they say a balloon can't move that fast. Then a woman says if it was closer we could see it better.
Profanities not translated....
My personal opinion: Not a blimp, and as for a chopper, it could be, but I wouldn't bet on it.
They mention it's a balloon several times until it starts moving fast, no mention or reference to a helicopter.

I listened what they have being saying,and they didn't mention a balloon.
