HP laptop allegedly stop 6 rounds, saves soldier in afghanistan.

"We get a lot of complaints from readers about their HP computers and the company's customer service. But one person who won't be complaining is the U.S. soldier whose HP notebook took six bullets intended for him.

The soldier who sent these images to HP was stationed in Afghanistan when he came under enemy fire. Two bullets hit his shoulder but the other six bullets that hit him were stopped by the notebook in his backpack."

Any ideas on how a normal laptop could have stopped 6 rounds of ammo? I can't imagine it would even stop one 9mm unless it hit the battery, how could it even stop one rifle round?

I am almost positive I could run a .22 round clear through my laptop. What kind of "terrorists" are these people?

Every deployment, I always had my laptop in my go bag (Nothing confidential, just games and movies). I even thought of it as additional body armor.

I'm glad he survived, but I'm sad to see that my theory was proven. (That doesn't sound right for some reason)

I dunno something sounds fishy on it. From what I've seen laptops won't stop a bullet

I can see it now:

"Buy HP Toughbooks...They will take a bullet for ya"

Of course I still wouldn't buy an HP. They're absolute crap.

If the bullets hadn't taken it out all the design flaws would have.

I wonder what range the attackers engaged the laptop bearer. It can't be close quarters. No laptop, even hardened ones, can protect you from rifle rounds at close range.

Based on the size of the holes, I'm assuming their are rifle rounds, 7.62x39mm.

I think MythBusters did a "will it stop a bullet" special. If I remember correctly a laptop did stop a bullet but it was a hit over the battery. A hit not over the battery went clean through.
