According to Breaking News on the Weather Channel, June 23, 2011 at 9:45 pm central time, the levee at Brownsville, Nebraska near the Cooper Nuclear Plant just broke! They said that evacuations are under way, more news to come. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by this. Stay Safe!!

checked twitter.. nothin.

I don't know how accurate this source is. Not finding any news on levee breaking.
Only reccommendations of evac, but that was three days ago when they said there was a possibility that the levee COULD break

I doubt if you will find links on this. Most of the important stuff is being blacked out of the media. I got this from the Weather Channel and posted immediately. Sorry. Maybe more will come out later and someone else can post. Be Safe.

I read the OP and it says Weather Channel.

Here is a link to what the Weather Channel has for Nemaha County, NE

weather channel Nemaha County, NE

THE FLOOD WARNING CONTINUES FOR THE MISSOURI RIVER AT BROWNVILLE. * AT 8:15 PM THURSDAY THE STAGE WAS 44.8 FEET. * FLOOD STAGE IS 33.0 FEET. * RECORD FLOODING IS OCCURRING AND RECORD FLOODING IS FORECAST. * FORECAST... THE RIVER WILL CONTINUE RISING TO NEAR 44.8 FEET BY AFTER MIDNIGHT TOMORROW. ADDITIONAL RISES MAY BE POSSIBLE THEREAFTER. * IMPACT... AT 44.0 FEET... WATER NEARS THE TOP OF THE FEDERAL LEVEES ON BOTH SIDES OF THE RIVER.

The word Levee does appear on the page,
but only as a warning.

From what I can understand of the paragraph above,
a flood stage of 33 feet meeting a waterlevel of 44.8 feet
does not require the levee to fail for everything to flood and the levee to be destroyed.

I checked TWC website and their twitter, among other news sources. Nothing. So until more comes out later and someone else can post, I do not believe that the levee has broken.

thanks for the post though. I'll be watching for updates

Looks like this thing was on the edge since Sunday. The water has been topping the levee for days. No surprise that this thing finally gave in.
