I would recommend the book TimeRiders by Alex Scarrow. It's about time travel, and is very convoluted. It's also half of the reason I joined ATS, because it may or may not have references to secret societies and symbology. At least, the author is leading us to believe there may be a tie in.

Swan Song by Robert Mccamon.--Great storyline, great characters all around great book

1984 by George Orwell--if you haven't read this you really should.

The Time Machine by H.G. Wells---Short book but still a vividly written and engaging little story.
