This Is Why We Have So Many Patriots

OK, so I stole the title from the Youtube video but it is right on. I debated putting this in the Jokes forum, but sadly it is right on and very insightful.

My favorite from this, more honest Pledge of Allegiance:

You want to know why this country is in so much trouble? Because since the 60's, soft liberals have wanted to take God out of our schools and out of our lives. To them, the rights of the minority outweigh the rights of the majority. Here locally just this year, for the first time, there was no prayer at the high school graduation because ONE kid said it infringed on his rights to be made to stand silently while everyone else bowed their heads and gave thanks to God.

I blame the school administrators, the soft, wishy-washy, afraid to offend one person children of the 60's. And I blame the parents too, for allowing it to happen even though nobody else complained. The MAJORITY needs to stand up for their rights, before we have none left.

Not gonna argue on this one because I agree with the ideal that you are getting at here, unfortunately the wankers in Washington and the PTB/Corporate Puppet masters have made a joke and mockery of the American Flag and real American ideals long before these guys pointed it out. Anybody that thinks we are in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Libya for anything other than Oil, Opium, and Oligarchy are sadly misled.

The problem isn't with Christians. This country did JUST FINE for 200 years under a Judeo-Christian ethic. What do you think made us the strongest country in the world? It was only when that ethic came under attack in the 60's and onward that we have fallen into this death spiral.

Who's in control in Washington now? 60's brand, Chairman Mao-loving, God-hating Commie Fascists. Blame THEM, not Christians - or me. I see all too well what is going on.

I gotta agree with you Oldcorp. It's because we have lost our values that this country has sunk so far so fast. What happened back in the 80's with the Religious right was an aberration of the type that brought about prohibition. They were trying to use secular methods to establish religious ideals. Jesus had the sense to know that you cannot legislate morality which is why he said the kingdom of God is not of this Earth.
The decline in Christianity closely parallels the rise of the police state.
I'm not a christian but I can plainly see the effects of what's happened in the last 50 years in America.

I would say that the Christians are a LARGE part of the problem because of the mentality instilled via passages like the one above as well as "give unto ceasar what is ceasars". Might as well say "bend over and take it" instead of turn the other cheek.

Back tot he topic, I actually used to get in trouble for not saying the pledge of allegiance to united states of jonestown. No kool-aid for me thanks!

Just fyi, Christians aren't the only ones with morals. Try reading something other than the bible perhaps? Also, a lot of the "morals" that christians hold to are outdated and come from Hate and ignorance. W/e, according to the bible, all you christians need to go pay your taxes and say your little prayer to america just like the bible tells you to, or you know, start thinking for yourselves.

All three happen to be different things...if anything the US gov is leaning on the fascist side. Also we are closer to direct democracy as opposed to a representative republic.

True democracy is nothing but a dictatorship of the majority. The US was founded and meant to be a representative republic.

ETA: I also got in trouble for not saying it. And if I chose not to say it, they still said I had to stand and "Respect everyone else."

The classroom scene was absolutely hilarious. I hope no one gets mad when I say I was cracking up at the cute kid in back, rocking to and fro on his feet, kinda separate and alone there, as that was me with my Auts and ADD. I don't know about Ridalin, but I wish they would have had those large metal coffemakers and stacks of papercups (with the creamer and sugar packets) (and Sweet&Low with Irish Cream or Mocha java squirts) on EVERY floor or hallway, when I was little and in school. Just like they do in every place of employment. Thats probably all I woulda needed.

Correct, however,,,

Capitalism is the best way to amass large amounts of money
Socialism and/or Communism are the best way to control large amounts of people and
Facism (Corporatism) is the best was to funnel money and control into the hands of a few.

I believe that America is currently a combination of all three systems.

You can also look at it this way...
Many non-believers did JUST FINE for 200 years under a Judeo-Christian ethic, mindlessly praising God and country every day while reciting the pledge in school WITHOUT COMPLAINT. Then, once one of the "soft liberals" speaks up and says "hey - that's not what I believe", guess who's the first to raise ire...

Maybe we'll all get lucky and you'll get your wish...

The original pledge of allegiance was to a republic that held liberty and justice up as the most important ideals of a nation. "Patriots" (and my "Compatriots") as I see them, are committed to what "once" was America, not the perversion that it has now become.

The pledge, however "brainwashing" as it may have been, was to constantly remind us why we were standing there, FREE, with the ultimate ability to not say the pledge, or to burn the flag in expression, if it was our such desire.

None of our ancestors, who gave their lives for this country in the American Revolution or other wars since, died "just" for our pretty red, white, and blue flag. The flag just textile. Just a piece of cloth.
They, and we, fought and continue to fight; for what our flag represented. "The republic, for which it stands"

That is the FREEDOM to fly it high and proudly, or to burn it to cinders if that be our choice.

We have used the very freedom, paid for with the blood of our forefathers, to finance our own destruction.


All because of those few who just wanted to be left alone, and to be free to live their own lives life without interference from a legislation crazed government, cared enough about personal freedom to DIE so that you you were "free" to give up your "freedom."

And that's EXACTLY what happened.

There used to be a saying: "America, love it or leave it." If you wanted socialism, fascism, or communism you were free to pursue it, to your hearts content. We just didn't want it here. we used to give "Political Asylum" to those looking for freedom, who would leave their homelands, for the dream of "American" Freedom, which is the freedom to FAIL or to SUCCEED, but it was up to YOU.

Not someone else, and NOT the government.

patriotism for your country is such a backwards way of thinking in my opinion, and causes more trouble than good. But many governments want their people to be full of patriotism for their country. Country patriotism is a form of brainwahing, and yes, is also quite creepy.

Now, if we had patriotism or our planet, then that would be a good thing. I think many people class other countries like they are ET or something, but at the end of the day, we are all related, we are all family, no matter what colour or religon we are.

I have to give my 2 cents on this one.

1) Great video(s). I love Ole Red, he always makes me smile.

2) It was/is not the lack of religious values that is making this country crash, It is and always will be the Military/Industrial society that bloomed in the 60's and has been with us ever since. They divide us, separate us into manageable factions, color us red and blue and fill our airwaves with mindless fluff and blatant boredom until our eyes bleed and our mouths hang slack! It is not necessary(in their opinion) to have God on your side when you have the biggest guns!

I consider myself a patriot, not a patriot of the government that is, but one of the government that was intended. I cannot count myself a truly religious individual, but I believe in the teachings of the Bible (more the Jeffersonian than the King James), the basis for our common law. I believe in individual's rights to live in peace without external control, infringement, or oversight. I believe a person should benefit from the work they contribute to their communities, the original basis for our nation as a whole. And I believe an individual should have a say in their rights and means of existing. Since the day I could first understand what this country has become and where it is going, I've refrained from pledging my allegiance, instead giving my devotion to the true basis of freedom and community for everyone, not just the Ivy League trust funded individuals. This could be a great country if it developed from it's roots, but instead we've allowed it to be choked by the vines of inequality and corruption. The day that changes in a beneficial direction I will salute the flag daily and say my pledge, but not a second before.
