the 'autopen' issue is a distraction meant to make the tea party folks not notice how many of their guys voted YES on this bill.

The sad thing here (ok, not THE sad thing, just one of many) is we are led to believe that there is some partisan divide in Washington and the US.

Looks like there is overwhelming Bi-Partisan support for subjugating our rights and freedom, well thanks Congress for looking out for "We the People"!

While, I believe, a greater majority see through the facade, the fact remains that while they practice a divide and conquer strategy via partisanship, it's a bill like this that pulls back the veil for even a hardened Republican or Democrat to see what's really happening.

This is why we all MUST vote for 3rd party candidates! No more republicans or democrats, they are the SAME PARTY. The Party of "Screw the people". They put on good theater when campaigning and using the MSM, which is in their pocket, to make it look like they are fighting about something but in the end they all vote the same.

Dems "hated" the patriot act when Bush was in the big chair now the love it and just passed it for another 4 years.

Dems "hated" GITMO but it is still open and now holding people indefinitely.

Dems "hated" Iraq and Afg wars but they are still going on and now, WELCOM TO LIBYA!

So, everything the repubs did wrong and the dems "hated" they have continued and expanded upon.

So, more of the same.

Only thing to do is vote 3rd party, or write in, hell, write in your own name. The only wasted vote is a vote for either of the establishment parties. If enough of us quit being afraid and stop listening to the scare mongering about how voting for someone else will let mean old wicked so-and-so from that *bad* other party win, we may be able to accomplish something. It may take a few election cycles but once enough of us start voting 3rd party the cowards who want to vote 3rd party and are afraid will jump on the wagon.

Be a patriot, vote 3rd party!

Congressman questions Patriot Act "autopen" signature

Republican Rep. Tom Graves of Georgia sent President Obama a letter today questioning the constitutionality of the president's use of a device called an autopen to sign into law an extension of the Patriot Act.

In an additional statement today explaining the letter, Graves said the use of the autopen could set a "dangerous precedent."
"Any number of circumstances could arise in the future where the public could question whether or not the president authorized the use of an autopen," he said. "For example, if the president is hospitalized and not fully alert, can a group of aggressive Cabinet members interpret a wink or a squeeze of the hand as approval of an autopen signing?"

Graves said he at first thought reports of the use of the autopen were "a joke."

Sorry Rep Graves, it isn't a joke, Unconstitutional Bills deserve no less than Unconstitutional Authorization into Unconstitutional Law.

Yes, this is a travesty!

Now there is no accountability as to who is in charge. The president doesn't even sign laws anymore? So now any political hack pulling the strings can "autopen" his signature on a law and then train the pres to say "yup" whenever anyone asks if he signed it.

How are we supposed to have a functioning republic when we can't even be sure who is signing laws anymore? It could be ANYONE behind the curtain.
