Last night in a dream a wise old man appeared to me and told me the end of the world (as we know it) will commence as follows.

On August, 8, 2011 at exactly 12 pm Pacific time, the entire world (and only those of the age of consent) will erupt in spontaneous consensual copulation followed by hours of laughter and merriment, this will continue for 12 hours straight After this happens, you will fall into the most peaceful slumber you have ever had, and the next morning the sun will rise, everybody will refuse to go to work on that day, and you will lie around all day relaxing enjoying the beautiful world around you with new eyes and energy, you will not visit any conspiracy websites or engage in any fear based behavior, new creative thought will flow freely and you will feel like the weight of the world has lifted off of your shoulders.

Please please mark this in your calendar, I can't stress this enough, the wise old man, said it would be so, and I believe him 100%.

How did we come up with this date??

Hmmm. That really doesn't translate into text, does it?

I would really love it if we could just get rid of this predictions and prophecies forum... all it does is reinforce the thought that all the people who visit this site and (the site owners) are wack jobs. The owners and mods complain about bandwidth and wasted replys and topics because people post one liners and whatnot. But we allow an entire forum to be dedicated to peoples fantasies prophecies and doom saying.

Well ... I can pick up a ball and by calculating the trajectory and power of force I use to throw the ball predict where it ends up. Prediction involves using any given data to make an educated guess or hypothesis in determining the future.

Prophecy entails someone receiving information, usually communicated from a divine or supernatural force.

Given the choices I would usually pick prediction over prophecy.
