It was not clear when the convoy might reach Bahrain, which has a majority Shi'ite population but is ruled by a Sunni king.

Bahrain, which has cracked down on pro-democracy protesters in recent weeks, has criticised the decision to send the flotilla and accused non-Arab Iran of interfering its affairs.

Iran's English-language Press TV said 120 activists, including professors, students and clerics, were aboard the convoy, sent to condemn the killing of Bahraini protesters.

Bahrain's massacres are nowhere in the western MSM, there's no congressional statement, no sanctions against Bahrain, nothing.

And Saudi Arabia has troops in Bahrain killing protesters.

Saudi Arabia and Iran hate each other a lot... if Bahrain does anything stupid against that ship, who knows what Iran is gonna do.

The US also has their middle-east fleet in Bahrain.

"Bahrain's waters are a red line, and Kuwait naval forces deployed there ... will not allow any Iranian ship to approach the kingdom's shores."

Prepare the pop corn... shiite about to hit the fan.

UPDATE 1PM EST : Iran orders Bahraini bound boats to return

Iran on Monday ordered the return home of two boats carrying Iranian activists to Bahrain to express solidarity with Shia-led protests there, the English-language Press TV said.

The channel's reporter travelling with the activists said in a live broadcast that the boats had been ordered to return and activists were throwing in the water letters they were carrying as "moral support" to Bahraini Shia.

Could this be a trigger event for something much bigger? One little mess-up, and the ego's of both Iran and Saudi Arabia will get the better of 'em I'm sure, leading to much senseless death and possibly much more.

They'll turn back at last moment, no way they're ready for war, and I'm sure they're not the one's who want to start it.

Iran is just doing it's best impression of America.

Iran believes itself to have the authority to protect Shiites. I remember reading and article back in February saying that If Iran did not do anything to help the people of Bahrain, it would look extraordinarily weak to other Shiites.

They should of left that flotilla at home, more then enough to protest for in Iran.
When did Iran become an advocate for human rights? There tons of videos i can dig up that shows their idea of human rights.

I think it has more to do with Iran VS US than Iran VS Saudi Arabia, as opinion polls show, the Arab population is increasingly favoring a nuclear Iran to counter US dominance in the region.

What are they gonna do. Invade? Why wouldn't they. they're ruled by fundamentalists so it's all about Shia vs. Sunni to them. Go ahead Iran, give them their freedom, because your people are so free already.

What polls? Please tell. If you are basing your opinion upon a westernized poll, such as Gallup, AP, you are mistaken. Shiite and Sunnis really do not like one another. Oh sure, they'll team up for a short period of time, but they be back to killing each other in no time at all.

Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, if allied together, might be able to hold off Iran. But they know strategically and tactically, they need the U.S.
