I don't think it's Osama. Osama had facial hair on his cheeks and was graying quite a bit. This guy has more or less recently shaved the cheek area, and though the beard looks like the 1998 photo, it is nowhere near as gray as the 2009 photo. Presuming either one was really of Osama, of course.

I still don't know where this photo came from. I'll try and find that out.

It is fake. The picture is up on live leak and in the comments section, a person posted a link to the picture it was created from.

Its got to be a fake unless he always has that half smile/half sneer thing he does with his lips in all the pictures. I don't think he must have been too happy getting part of his head blown off. It kinda looks like that fake picture that has been circling the net.

While I don't always buy into "official stories" I'd say this story is still breaking and there is much speculation. The information is coming out in dribs and drabs as I would expect. I think I'd be MORE skeptical if it was all pre-packaged in the form of a media Press Kit with a nice pretty bow.

All news organizations are scrambling to scoop this and the administration is exercising the release of info as per protocol and decorum as well as public's "need to know." Add to that hoaxers and nature of internet and it is reasonable to suspect anyone. I must have missed link to source of photo in OP, sorry. Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction.

Proven as above ... and no offense but these kinds of debates prove endless. Can go off the deep end on the finer points of grain, light and color matching ... ask yourself is it ever going to sway you?

God help us when some smart person works out that if you photo shop an 'original' image to prove that another image was fake people will probably fall for it. How do you know the 'original' image is real? It's a nonsensical philosophical question to prove a point clearly and am not going to ask you to prove it, but you get the idea.

If a person sat around trying to prove 100% fakery of every unlikely image posted on this site you would five full time jobs, and still not have a fan club.
