As for the whole "waking up" deal...let's get real for a second.
Generally speaking, most people over 45 or so have developed deep neural networks that run a certain way, they have certain belief structures,
etc...Unless the individual is exceptional, he becomes pretty well solidified in his view of the world.
Some are being forced to wake up out of obvious necessity. Most would rather (and may get their wish!) die out than wisen up.
So the younger bunch has the potential to change things, but this is the way it's always been. It's part of the reason we have labels of
generations, because the tides ebb and flow.
Basically, I don't think any more people are truly awake in 2011 than they were in 1991. Many people who thought they were awake have died out since
then, and many still have been born and are now awake. I think it's about the same numbers.
