A U.S. investigation of fast-food burrito chain Chipotle for hiring illegal immigrants has widened with federal prosecutors joining immigration officials in the case, the company said Wednesday.

Former workers have told Reuters that Chipotle Mexican Grill [CMG 277.30 -10.80 (-3.75%) ] — one of the highest-profile employers to fall under the scrutiny of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) — ignored signs that pointed to the illegal status of some of its workers.

"It shows that the Obama administration is not willing to turn a blind eye to enforcement," said Mark Jones, a political science professor at Rice University. "The use of undocumented immigrants as a source of inexpensive labor is getting more risky."

should b going after burger king, McDonald's, and pretty much every other fast food place as well

Illegals are in many areas of the workforce, not just fast food restaurants. I was shocked to discover that even some nurses are undocumented. In any case, the jobs belong to a citizen, not an illegal. ICE has really been cracking down on companies who hire illegals and thousands of jobs have then been filled by a citizen as it should be.

I guess no one would ever suspect Wal-Mart of hiring illegals on a massive scale, despite the numerous claims and apparent evidence.
Chipotle' is the worst offender by far. Clearly.
I guess all those home healthcare/nursing agencies have been onto something as well.
Lets not forget about the myriad of day laborers that (work all those jobs) us fat, lazy, Americans won't work.

They only pay $3 - $5 an hour.
Fat & Lazy Americans should be able to feed their nuclear families of 1.2 children on that kind of money, just like those illegals do.

In all fairness, no one should be hiring anyone illegal.
Companies should not be exporting the jobs either.
This however, is the world we live in.

If the USA enacted Mexico's immigration laws this crap would end real fast. Going after the employers is the best way we have of stopping this illegal invasion, fine the crap out of em and sieze there assets.

Imagine, illegals working in a mexican fast food restaurant...who'd have thought?
Maybe they should start checking some fields of produce next.
