If the animals started to run, maybe it's something real. For example when there is an earthquake, animals feel it and seek somewhere to hide.

It was the middle of the night and birds were flying everywhere and my foot was even bumped into by a couple of small rodents or rabbits as the craft approached. As the light hovered it was clearly a metal ship.. it made no noise exept a low sub-level hum that you could feel in your bones. I was scared sh*tless.
