I hope that last comment was tongue in cheek. Because there are many women who consider nude magazines, nude women in movies, all sexualization of women and strip joints, to be massive abuse of women, and indeed to be treating them like property.

The Saudi Royal family are not capitalists. They own all the land and resources. Opportunists is a more accurate definition.

Capitalism is a lie told the west to keep commerce alive and corporations in business.

On topic, some chick that rebuked her heritage got naked for money. The Muslim term is to insight conflict to sell magazines.

This is a big deal why? It's not as if she's breaking some huge taboo, though their society is very traditional compared to most European/American standards it's definately not the huge scandal the mail is making it out to be. It's a pretty cosmopolitan place unless you venture into the more rural, conservative areas of the country.

I'm sure a good many parents would be happy to hear that their daughter is making a substantial living....and not living at home. If they don't want to see their daughter's private parts, they don't read Playboy. Parents just want to be left alone.

I remember when I was deployed to Iraq, we had many Iraqi civilians that worked on base. Everyday during deploy #1 I would see 2 (yes, that's 2) amazingly beautiful Iraq women in the chow hall during lunch and dinner. They dressed in normal jeans and a t-shirt. I am not sure where they worked and don't even remember their names right now. I think I have a few pics somewhere.

I ended up making friends with them and the dude that was always with them. We called him Al for short because we had issues pronouncing his real name. They would share stories of what life was like under Sadaam Insanes reign. After about 6 months, they just disappeared. Al said they needed to travel to Baghdad for a few days and they would be back. Al was very excited because Al and the 2 good looking girls were coming back to the US with us for work. Long story short, they never came back. They disappeared.

Sorry for the off topic, for some reason this thread reminded me of that. Still wonder whatever happened to Al and his friends. Probably got killed.

hi boncho. i thought the article mentioned she lives in Germany. i see the picture of this woman wearing clothes my sister or wife may wear, i read she is an actress so i get the feeling she has left behind boundaries and tradition some time ago. maybe i'm expecting too much. maybe i've seen too many pictures of women dressed so only their eyes area is visible, and they are always photographed in an ancient desert setting.

i'm catching on that i may have missed the importance of this womens action. honestly, it did not occur to me that she would or could be stoned to death in Germany. i consider Germany to be a very progressive modern country, especially in many cultural aspects. i also may have wrongly assumed that because she lives in Germany she is free to travel and could easily leave behind people that threaten her.

I don't know real women who do this. All the ones I know are quite aware. I have met a few women in bad/controlling relationships who did this, kind of an addiction with really low self esteem. Also, there are a few who have bought the male ones to try and be equal, but thats not their real ideas, and its a stage that passes quickly, just immature is all.

So, amongst those not conforming to something odd in their relationships, and not addicted to drugs because thats a whole black market world in itself, where alot of distortions and abuse enters into peoples consciousness, havn't found one yet. Instead, lots of in depth conversations about the world, the controllers, the corruption, the abuse of women, complete opposite stance actually.
