For what it's worth and if it matters, your threading through dangerous waters. The slanted N's are an esoteric symbol, and the words, "As Above As Below" are also for the esoteric. There are a few different perspectives on this saying and sources. One source is to do with the end of time and the coming Messiah, which isn't dangerous, but you still must be careful.

This one is of an occult nature, and is related to Freemasonry, Albert Pike, Manly Palmer Hall, Francis Bacon, Alice Bailey, Aleister Crowley this last one being one of the most scary and satanic man in history.

You can google any name you want and choose from the many sites to give you info on all these people. You will find sites that go for these types, and you will find those that are against. It is to your own discretion what you choose to go with. I hope you choose wisely.

It first struck me as DNA strands which could be taken as symbolizing life. Life - as above (heaven/ the hereafter) so below (here). Maybe there's a lot more you need to remember from when you were in the coma. Maybe there is someone you lost and you need a confirmation that they are still 'alive' and you got one when you were out.

Many of the Scots blood have Germanic/Nordic ties (unless your more Pictish). Remember, the north tribes visited Scotland fairly frequently. That may be the blood tie.

A new perspective with Much Hope of Helping you Lady! I do a little treasure hunting and a friend of mine told me that, on some treasure sites, at the base of mountains or hills, there are either 2 rocks in the shape of triangles or 1 rock with 2 triangles scratched on it,, these triangles will have 1 of them pointing down and the other will be pointing up. This is called WHAT IS ABOVE IS BELOW AND WHAT IS BELOW IS ABOVE in treasure hunting. This rock/sign at the base has all of the information as to what is located on that side of the hill/mountain, mines, tunnels, veins, etc. In treasure hunting, one is seeking the hearts desire, which should be Christ the Treasure! I think if you want to get hot and heavy into this, you may want to explore Hermeticism and Alchemy and see where that takes you but most importantly, go where the Spirit guides you.

1984, Clarksville , Tn. I saw this same symbol cut into trees and on stone pillars in the woods above the Cumberland river. I was in the Army and I have not heard those words or seen that symbol since. I remembered it and had to respond. It is interesting in that at that time I hang around some guys whom I wouldn't now. It was not a pleasant experience, nor one I would repeat.

I wanted to say the same. I am from a Scottish clan, but through research found that one of my great-grandfathers (like 5 or so times great) was an earl of some sort, and through him, I found relations in Iceland and the Nordic regions. I have a great respect for the Norse pagan religions and have always felt a certain kinship with them.

Not sure of your symbol however the saying "as above so below" is from the ancient wisdom. It means everything below corresponds to the the higher realms, from the highest to the lowest there is a great correspondence. While not a perfect correspondence they do so enough that we can learn a lot about the higher realms by what happens in our current sphere of existence. Couple books I recommend are A Treatise on White Magic - Alice A Bailey, and The Immortal - JJ Dewey The first is pretty heavy reading, The second is set in story form so much easier to read but still teaches some heavy principles.

I am sorry I can not contribute except to say this has been absolutley fascinating to read. I have pretty much zero knowledge of this topic, yet I can see there is some real help being dealt out here and in the end that's what this site and this world should be about. When I read "As above, so below", the first thing I that came to me was the Biblical passage from Matthew 6:10, "Thy kingdom come, thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven." This comes from the message that Jesus gave us all on what to pray when we pray. In context of the Matthew 6 passage, Jesus said,

In the message and associated symbol, you should really first ask the Living Lord Jesus what it means. I can tell you what He told me about your encounter and the associated symbol but, you should seek God first and ask him. He loves you and He is the God who will answer you so ask God Jesus, "What does this experience and symbol mean? What am I supposed to learn from all of this?" Give me discernment to know if this is of you." Don't ever forget that even Satan can appear as an angel of light and that he roams around like a lion seeking whom he can devour. It looks like a wave function. Like the sine and cosine functions overlapped on top of each other (one is "above" when the other is "below") except those would be smooth like semi-circles whereas this symbol is more linear.

I would try to give you some kind of layman Jungian analysis, but the symbol can be associated with so many different things that I wouldn't even know where to start. If it's culture-specific like others have suggested then my ignorance of any given culture would limit my analysis too.

I have a symbol too, but I've always been hesitant to share it. It's a pattern that's been with me since i can remember. It has sequence and pattern and like the Op's symbol it is the same above as it is below. Numbers and rhythm and geometry come across as significant with this symbol and seem to be related to the definition (structure) of the symbol.
