I would assume that too! (smoking laws though?) candles maybe but it's a porn shop so I'm probably way off, maybe someone got angry and doused him with alchohol - I'm trying to google for more info....

i am not so quick to dismiss smoking

nude women are also frowned upon and given the nature of the establishment whose to say if the smoke alarms were in working order.

granted my theory is a leap of logic but to say that smoking wasn't a factor is also a leap without knowing or visiting the place ourselves.

It is actually possible that there was an electrical problem of some sort whereby a spark from an outlet or something caught the guy's pant leg on fire and went unnoticed because he was focused on the film. He probably didn't realize he was on fire until he was engulfed in flames!

Entirely possible as well. The only problem with this theory is that the extremities of the human body contain fluids and are quite hard to ignite. The portions of the body that were exposed to the intense friction would have had to entirely dry out and then smolder for some time until an ember landed on a suitable kindling.

Perhaps he had an excess of hair among his pubic regain and he was wearing moisture wicking undergarments. Maybe that in conjuncture with a hefty dose of Gold Bond Powder allowed the moisture to be lacking enough to start said hand pleasure garment combustion.

Not a bad idea at all. The only thing I can think of that cannot hold up with this theory is that the shop itself wasn't in need of extinguishing. I believe the booth he was in would have caught fire as well and would have started the whole building burning. We are definitely missing something here.

I think we should talk to Blue Oyster Cult as they seem to have experienced a similar phenomenon and put the experience they had to music.

As we see by the testimony of the store manager, there was zero damage done to the building. This manager suspects that the patron may have lit himself on fire while doing drugs. I wonder what would cause the manager to speculate in that general direction unless he had first hand knowledge of the patron using drugs in his store.

We clearly see as well that witnesses to the phenomenon sat and did nothing as if they were entranced I would imagine. Not unlike many abduction reports where the victims or witnesses are immobilized and can do nothing to help. This story is just more and more baffling. Is it possible that we could have an extraterrestrial aspect to consider as well? With potential rescuers being immobilized by an unseen force as this man is violently incinerated right in front of them?

I'll keep looking but man I would like to know what he was watching.

Well honestly I'm just trying to cover every possible angle and knowing what was being viewed may help. What with the advances in MK technologies and phonic matter excitement, it is quite possible that this individual was an unknowing guinea pig in a government sponsored experiment. An experiment utilizing both hypnotic suggestion and acoustic molecular acceleration to manifest the rapid blaze that engulfed the subject. Knowing what he was viewing may help us establish if this was in fact the case.

Well now we have just a little more information. Pastor Huang has apparently been engaged in a rigorous campaign to shut this particular porn shop down for some time. People affiliated with Pastor Huang no doubt believe that this was some kind of divine judgment.

A little more investigation into the good Pastor Huang may yield some tangible clues as to how this man burst into flames. What kind of religion is it that they follow with Pastor Huang? Does it include the belief in pyrokinesis? You know, able to start fires at will through thought.

Could the whole of the congregation been focused on that one individual in the video booth and with their collective efforts succeeded in igniting the avid movie goer? There may be some links to the man himself and Pastor Huang that are yet to be uncovered!

Some think this is a divine message from the heavens. Pastor Huang has been trying to shut down this "den of iniquity" for seven years, but that has not stopped some people, but this message from above may have a stronger effect than Huang's sermons. Interesting, I would never have guessed it was a Reverend who has been trying to close down this store for seven years, you would think he would have given up after all that time. Is it worth maybe losing your life over.

Wonder what he would think if he lived in Germany where these type of places are everywhere, they also have shops where you can buy anything you can imagine which are blatantly displayed in their windows, the first time I saw one of those shops I stood there with my mouth open. My friend and co-traveler who was born in Germany laughed at me.

Most European countries are very open about these things, unlike the U.S. where it's taught everything is bad and those very same people do unbelievable things behind closed doors.
