Before I comment on this, please note that I am a proud former Marine, and I have nothing but respect for the courage and honor displayed by the General during his career as a Marine.

Before you start quoting Smedley Butler, you should know a few things about the man. It wasn't huge like Tarawa, Iwo Jima, or Okinawa, but the fighting was fierce and Butler's Marines killed over 200 enemy insurgents - every last one in fact - even though they were outnumbered 5 to 1.

Butler also had a history of mental illness, and was hospitalized for "nervous breakdowns" on more than one occasion. The Marine Corp has always promoted the next highest ranking officer to the post of Commandant if something unexpected - like death - happened to the sitting Commandant until a new Commandant can be appointed; but this was not the case for General Butler. Even though he was the second highest raking officer, Butler's unreliability, history of mental illness, and chronic drunkenness were enough to convince TPT were that Butler would be unable to serve as Commandant - even temporarily.

He subsequently retired.

So by all means praise the man when it comes to his exploits and heroism, of which there are many examples; but at the same time, you have to realize that he wasn't operating with a full deck his entire life, and being passed over for the crowning achievement of any Marine's career probably left him with an extremely bitter taste in his mouth.

Unless the Chinese government can document their claims, I'd say it's just more PR. Most researchers are reporting that they are as much under the influence of the "Shadow Government" as any other large nation. If they were being honest, the correct target for their propaganda would be the Shadow Government, not the U.S. According to several reports, the Shadow Government is trying to set things up so that a major war involving all the major world powers can be provoked. The result would amount to world-wide genocide. Assuming their plan worked (they would be safe in underground bunkers) an earth population considerably smaller than its current size would be much easier to manage.

I know this is just opinion, but you can be pretty confident that at least 95% of what comes out of most large governments in terms of press releases or even "leaked" material is just posing, posturing, and PR. Many politicians aren't even aware of how much they are being manipulated.

I think the government of China is in serious need of a constructive hobby. How about stopping the environmental attacks on the world. Want to eat fish?
