Anomaly In The Sky - Christchurch New Zealand, March 29, 2011. Another Norway Spiral Event?

Witness:”My Mum took these photos at about 5am on 29th March from her balcony on Scarborough Hill in Sumner Christchurch. The city lights you can see is New Brighton area. She said this thing stayed visible well into the day”

I dont know what this can be, but makes me remember about this:

Can you explain why the last pic looks like there are two artifacts in it? Did the photographer see the two artifacts or did they develop on the camera like that? That is somewhat important.

Also, was it taken indoors through a window or outdoors.


The double circle really looks like a lensing issue.

Wish I could explain this to you, but I cant. Can be lensing issue, but I'm not sure. Maybe someone can post this question in his youtube acount. I dont have an account there.

Well since we're comparing this with the Norway spiral, which had multiple videos and photos taken of it, then this event over Christchurch, that lasted till day broke, should have myriads of photos and videos, right?

So uhh, how come, after 3-4 days the only source for this is some photos from facebook?

Do we have any actual elevation/azimuth angle estimates?

Was there any motion across the celestial sphere?

What did it LOOK like -- not just the video images?

Good question -- viewed from outside or through a window?

Anybody did a search of local newspaper online files?

It could be some sort of spotlight that has been pointed at the sky.

I agree that the halo around the light seems to be a artifact on the camera lens.

Shape is irrelevant in still photography, with the right setting anyone can make a star look like a starship. Unfortunately.

If it was video recorded it would be a different story.

If i had to guess, definitely atmosphere/sun related, probably a dying solar flare. OR, a wormwhole for the Galactic Federation of "Light", theyre evil in my opinion so i would stay clear of em'.

Yeah and what happened during that event?

Lot's of pictures, lot's of video.

Same as when that 'spiral' (Falcon 9 rocket) was spotted over the east coast of Australia.

Big bright, long lasting things don't get missed, especially over a large city like Christchurch.

Some time between approximately 2300 to 2320 New Zealand Daylight Time
(1000 to 1020 UTC) ON 29 March 2011 a bright multi coloured fast moving
falling object was observed over a large part of the North Island and some
of the Northern South Island of New Zealand.

I have checked for any indication of the possibility of satellite decay at
around that time but come up with nothing, so I guess it was probably a
meteor. If anyone has information which suggests anything to the contrary,
please let me know.

If you read through the sightings you can find some other people that saw the blue light. Most of the reports are about a meteor though. (or a Japanese saceship burning up)

I'm gonna vote SPACE JUNK burning up on re-entry. There is so much of that crap floating around up there... maybe they're doing some cleanup. Let's hope, eh?
