EPA Ready to Massively Increase ‘Permissible Radioactive Release’ Guidelines

The EPA is preparing to dramatically increase permissible radioactive releases in drinking water, food and soil after “radiological incidents,” according to Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility.

The radiation guides called Protective Action Guides or PAGs are protocols for responding to radiological events ranging from nuclear power-plant accidents to dirty bombs.

Drinking water, for example, would have a huge increase in allowable public exposure to radioactivity, the group says, that would include:

A nearly 1000-fold increase in strontium-90

A 3000 to 100,000-fold hike for iodine-131

An almost 25,000 rise for nickel-63

The new radiation guidance would also allow long-term cleanup standards thousands of times more lax than anything EPA has ever before accepted, permitting doses to the public that EPA itself estimates would cause a cancer in as much as every fourth person exposed, the group says.

These relaxed standards are opposed by public health professionals inside EPA, according to documents PEER said it obtained under the Freedom of Information Act.

So when things get dangerous, just change the levels and everything is fine? Perhaps this is the government covering GE butt, so they can't be sued for negligence.

Raising the levels is cheaper than helping the public via preventative measures
(iodine tabs, relocations, bottled water, etc).

But would it be cheap if the public did get sick and needed medical help?

looking after GE? you are probably right.
The 'we will test all our nuclear facilities' propaganda to appease the masses is BS.
They probably already know the plants are old, cutting costs on maintenance, and
half of them will fail any tests.
That's why GE are out there in damage control.

Wow, I really don't know what to say. Hopefully this will be the straw that breaks the camel's back and the ignorant masses finally turn off their TVs and throw the entire gov't out on it's butt!

If they ever see this article, which they probably won't. People in Phoenix are alarmed detectable radiation has been found in local milk but relieved it's "insignificant" doses. Considering it was radioactive iodine found, along with this article, those "insignificant" levels could be 100,000 times higher later on down the road. Hell, who knows, maybe the current amount is already at a hike from some previous incident that may have happened under the general public's noses.

This is the absolutely insane response to dealing with incoming contamination levels from Fukushima. And clearly shows there is a Globalist influence over the EPA where this now fits nicely in with depopulation agendas.

There is no protection here, only lies and death.

I've seen some ads the last few days to "Save the EPA" (don't remember which channel) and I just laughed.

I think I'd rather save us first.

Yes. This crisis is tailor-made for world depopulation by accidental means. Of course, the elites will have their safeguards.

I'll make an obvious prediction. There will be a rush of new construction for all manner of governmental facilities that will innocently included better protection from radiation hazards. This would include moving facitilies to better protected parts of the country, going underground, and for existing structures, better filtering and sealing off of outside air, and external "sprinklers" to wash away radiation falling on prime roof tops.

Next year, at tax time you will be given an allowance by the IRS for the money you've spent on tape used to seal your house windows from the radiation.

At the same time the EPA wants to regulate dust and CO2 for being pollutants. Our government agencies at their finest. Radiation good but dust (mostly dead skin cells) and CO2 (what we exhale) bad. Most people just bury their heads in the sand and watch ESPN. Why should they pay attention to the world when the Yankees are on?

This is proof positive why the government cannot be trusted. They raise the levels so they can tell all the sheep on the news that they are within acceptable ranges. LOL Don't be silly people, Trust your gut

Is this the same EPA that said that second-hand smoke, salt, CO2, bacon. . . . is bad for you?

Just checking.
