Lots of big mistakes here:
1. Temperature has nothing to do with it - the comet reflects light from the Sun
2. There is no large gravitation field associated with Elenin
3. There is no gravitation lensing
4. Dwarf stars are not cold unless they are small

You should really learn what things are before stringing together words that end up having no meaning. There are lots of good places to learn about astronomy and how gravity shapes the solar system and the universe.

Please take the time to learn that:
1. Nothing new and massive can be in the solar system otherwise the known objects would be shifting from their predicted orbits
2. Brown dwarfs are good reflectors of sunlight
3. Gravity goes outward without limit

Nobody, nobody, nobody, not even the author caught the error in the diameter of the earth and the moon. If you don't get the earth's or the moon's diameter right (in a thread about size, distance, and scale), can you get anything right? Scary! Is ELENIN really 8 km?

Elenin is mostly cyanide. Scarier.

Earth flies through elenin's debris tail on... ELEven-NINe. Scarierer.

Elenin doesn't have to be big or close to be bad.

That's not unusual for a comet (and we pass through their tails with no harm done all the time).

No, we don't. It will be over 4 million kilometers above the ecliptic at that point, we will not pass through the tail.

Have you seen YU55's orbit? Does that worry you? On ELEven NINe it will be about 1.000AU from the sun, same as us.

On elEVEN eighT it will be ZERO point eight lunar distances from Earth, that's about 308,000 km. A bit too far to walk, in my opinion.

It doesn't worry me because there's nothing to worry about (for that asteroid) for the next century at least, but I do look forward to watching it pass earth in November. It should put on a very good show.

No, I subtly encoded a secret message into my reply so that any dedicated conspiracy theorist can work it out. YU55 comes closest to Earth on 11/8, not 11/9. It will be a "zero event." Nothing untoward involving the asteroid is likely to happen.

The point is 4km but the lenth is 500km?? Not counting the tail.
I think I'll just keep watching the earthquakes and volcanos on earth while gazing at the vastness of space.
I guess all I can do is wait for it to pass then think about how the Venusion eclipse is supposed to effect us next year.

This is a news article from October 18 which reminds us of these wacko ideas.

Some skywatching soothsayers had predicted that Elenin's approach Sunday would trigger catastrophic earthquakes and tsunamis. Others had sounded even more dire alarms, suggesting that Elenin was not a comet at all but a rogue planet called Nibiru whose Earth encounter could usher in the apocalypse.

But none of that came to pass, as Elenin zipped by our planet at the safe remove of 22 million miles (35.4 million kilometers) and sped off into deep space. Or crumbs of the comet did, anyway.
