Protesters prepare for 'family' demo in London

www.bbc.co.uk

People from across the country are converging on London for a march in protest at the coalition government's spending cuts.

The Trades Union Congress predicts more than 100,000 people will join the march, to be policed by 4,500 officers.

The TUC said it was deploying more than 1,000 stewards to ensure the event remained "family friendly".

I Can seriously not see this protest staying "family" friendly today in London, It Is by all right supposed to be and stay friendly, but i think this will end in violence even if it is a " minority "

Police have said that they WILL use Containment Techniques If Protests do Turn Violent, The Metropolitan Police have " promised " that protesters will held for shorter periods and will be FREE to leave if they are peaceful.

Police also said they will communicate will protesters via Twitter, Text Messages and Leaflets.

The Metropolitan Police force have been preparing for weeks for this event.

Anybody have any thoughts on this , It will be a very interesting day today, Anybody attending the event or watching twitter please keep this thread updated.

There is more information on the BBC, Website, www.bbc.co.uk

Lets See What Happens, How this plays out,

Peace

Not usually one for making predictions, but i think two things will happen with this protest:

1. The usual pond-life rent-a-mob will show up and try to turn it into some kind of riot, giving those government stormtroopers also known as the Met. Police to beat the living crap out of anyone they like.

2. The government won't take any notice anyway, because like all politicians, they think that sitting in parliament makes one infallible.

I hope I'm proven to be wrong on both of these points, but if past form is anything to go by...

If state does number one, they fuel the revolution even faster. We won't kneel any more. People also gave their lives in Egypt for freedom.

If state does number 2, I think it has the same effect as number 1

SAYS -

Thousands will descend on London next Saturday–be there! Saturday 26 March can be a day to change Britain. Hundreds of thousands of people will converge on London for a monster demonstration against the government. The TUC’s march looks set to be the biggest protest in Britain since the huge demonstrations that swept the country against the war in Iraq.
From Penzance to Perth, trade unionists, anti-cuts activists, pensioners and students are filling up every available space on transport to London. The TUC has given up trying to keep track of the numbers heading to the capital.
Over 1,000 coaches and dozens of trains are booked—some with as many as 500 seats. There is a week until the protest. Trade unionists, students, pensioners and every other activist must do everything they can to maximise the turnout. A huge protest could give millions of people confidence to fight against every cut and for every job—and to bring down this rotten Tory government of the rich.

With Lots Of " Quotes " From " Real People " at this link also it is worth taking a quick look.

I hope you're right. I hate violence and don't wanna put on the news later on and see things go that way. Not sure I want to see a revolution either, cos if we get one i fear it'll be lead by the likes of the BNP or EDL in some other guise. The only state I hate more than the current one is the one THEY'D like to introduce

Rent a mob and the usual collection of deranged disaffected souls will possibly hijack this demo.
It will achieve NOTHING apart from a huge flippin policing bill.
I feel for people who are genuinely suffering but it is rather joyous to hear the public sector brigade squealing about the loss of their cushy jobs and pensions. Too bad the rest of us have to suffer though.

Do what's best for us all. Just believe that we are the first generation to break out of the chains of enslavement. Fear is part of it yes, smooth your fear down. What you think, becomes your feeling, becomes your reality.

Thanks, you're words are true. We ultimately make our reality ourselves, and Humanity collectively is left with the reality it deserves. It's up to us all to prove to ourselves that we deserve something better than that which we currently have.

Just look at some of the response in my thread on the same issue and you will see british members calling for the hanging of trade unionists. www.abovetopsecret.com...

From my understanding of the political climate in England (which isn't great by I try as an American) I have a hard time believing the demo (which in America is short for demolition ironically) will be family friendly. I have a feeling that this will turn ugly within the first 6-8 hours and not get better from there.

I wish you boys luck over there.

Peace

WOW man, I just checked out your thread. Pretty grim reading from some of the posters. For my part I agree with your views, but I really don't see the point in bothering to engage people like that in discussion at all. I'm all for freedom of speech, but freedom comes with responsibility, and they aren't fulfilling their end of the bargain if they're calling for people to be killed, etc.

I've heard far more intelligent debate from my dog than from some of those people.

Actually, I agree that I may have been too harsh there. I just don't want to see people calling for other people to be killed at what is meant to be a peaceful protest. Just gives them every excuse to ultimately write it off as a load of thugs and do nothing to adress the problems people are protesting about.

SW

There are always going to be extremists in every walk of life........... i bet we'll see a few today trying to 'coral' and agitate the masses......

I just believe that we have to change our ways and value system in our society, not by protesting and causing problems in London but by a greater majority of people changing their habits and expectations........ some have become to used to having things without really knowing the true value of what they have.............(and that comment is NOT directed at those whom DO need the help from a caring society)...

Regards

PDUK

Again I find myself agreeing with you! I guess it's a little easy to let ones emotions get a little carried away on a forum like this one. Sorry if I initially caused offence. Arrogance is something i actually really dislike.
