People from across the country are converging on London for a march in protest at the coalition government's spending cuts.
The Trades Union Congress predicts more than 100,000 people will join the march, to be policed by 4,500 officers.
The TUC said it was deploying more than 1,000 stewards to ensure the event remained "family friendly".

Not usually one for making predictions, but i think two things will happen with this protest:
1. The usual pond-life rent-a-mob will show up and try to turn it into some kind of riot, giving those government stormtroopers also known as the Met. Police to beat the living crap out of anyone they like.
2. The government won't take any notice anyway, because like all politicians, they think that sitting in parliament makes one infallible.
I hope I'm proven to be wrong on both of these points, but if past form is anything to go by...
Thousands will descend on London next Saturday–be there! Saturday 26 March can be a day to change Britain. Hundreds of thousands of people will converge on London for a monster demonstration against the government. The TUC’s march looks set to be the biggest protest in Britain since the huge demonstrations that swept the country against the war in Iraq.
From Penzance to Perth, trade unionists, anti-cuts activists, pensioners and students are filling up every available space on transport to London. The TUC has given up trying to keep track of the numbers heading to the capital.
Over 1,000 coaches and dozens of trains are booked—some with as many as 500 seats. There is a week until the protest. Trade unionists, students, pensioners and every other activist must do everything they can to maximise the turnout. A huge protest could give millions of people confidence to fight against every cut and for every job—and to bring down this rotten Tory government of the rich.
Cuts march kicks off 11.30AM Sat Mar 26 2011 Up to a quarter of a million people are marching in London against spending cuts, the biggest union-organised event for over 20 years and the largest in the country since the anti-war march in 2003. Teachers, nurses, midwives, NHS, council and other public sector workers have been joined by students, pensioners and direct action supporters, bringing the centre of the capital to a standstill.

WOW man, I just checked out your thread. Pretty grim reading from some of the posters. For my part I agree with your views, but I really don't see the point in bothering to engage people like that in discussion at all.
I've heard far more intelligent debate from my dog than from some of those people.
