It saddens me that we need this new forum because of the severity of the issues in Japan, and the frequency with which the situation is changing, and new information becomes apparent.

Please use this new forum for all topics specific to the events in Japan, resulting from the horrific earthquake, tsunami, aftermath, and troubles at the nuclear reactors.

And to keep things organized, please use this forum for all breaking news items related to the above-mentioned issues.

Topics that relate to the events in Japan, such as nuclear fallout outside Japan and predictions or worsening financial troubles (for example) should still go into the appropriate forums.

Thank you in advance for helping to keep ATS organized.

It's sad that an event like this needs its own forum.

I think we're going to be discussing Japan for quite some time to come. Especially when the economic and environmental ramifications become apparent.

Eventually this will be nearly forgotten like the BP spill in the future but I guess there is no avoiding it. R.I.P poor souls of japan and hopefully more research will go into full detail how and why such a thing happened in the first place.

On an environmental scale, the oil spill was really bad, but this is so much worse.

At some point we may need a SHTF forum.

Though its unfortunate that we need this, may I make a suggestion as this thread will be getting large rather quickly. If something "breaking or new" occurs if there can be a notification in the name as to make members aware that something newer or urgent in happening, so that if new info comes out, members wouldn't have to reread everything, or it get lost in the many replies.

My 2 cents.
Peace, NRE,

Workers are, or are not back? CNN still says they suspended working.

They are back now. Due to high radiation levels they had to be pulled out. I wonder why the radiation levels fluctuate so much?

I think this thread is just to let everyone know why this new forum is here.
Not to discuss Japan issues.

I feel like they aren't giving the full story. Like are there really workers there, or is it to keep our hopes up.
