Just was browsing around and ran into spaceweather's site. It's not posted yet, but the realtime tools said an X-Flare has just fired off. For those of us who follow this stuff it might pay off to pay attention to the effects of this one. Haven't seen an X-Flare that's headed towards earth in awhile since the blackout of 2003 in the Northeast.

I'd follow spaceweather for the latest updates if this garners your interest. Also looking at the scale of this X Flare - this is a BIG ONE. It is halfway through the graph in the X-Class of flares.

Do we know if the X-class flare was directed at Earth?

Is there any place where we can see this flare mapped out in relation to earth?

Any idea when it hits us and where it hits us?

wow!

From the article

Australia is already experiencing some effects. There are reports of down internet and the radio disruptions as mentioned above. It generally takes 48 hours for flares to hit us so we will see what happened, if anything, over the next few days. The X-flare was earth-directed, however, so there will be some effects.

I got NASA TV on waiting for these comet images, listening to Coast To Coast AM cause Nick Redfern is going to be talking about NASA cover-ups (Richard Hoaglands expertise), Mt St. helens had an earthquake of 4.5 yesterday...yikes! Now an X-class flare...monitoring the data now.

That site I linked contains flares that are directed at Earth. I don't believe they measure just any old flare, only earth directed flares.

Haven't seen any reports here about internet issues.

Besides, any effect from this flare won't be felt for a few days.

Id kinda like to know why this isn't in the msm.
Either it's not a big enough deal to worry about or......
It's too big of a deal to worry about.

It certainly is getting interesting. This is a wonderful time to be alive.
Am I the only one who sits on this site for hours and keeps clicking the refresh button like every 30 seconds to see what the latest developments are?

I just know when I wake up in the morning I am going to come on here and find out something that just happened somewhere.
The more the pace picks up the more I am going to rely on ATS as my already main news source.
Things are already happening so quickly that I am having a hard time keeping up sometimes.

lol I'm right there clicking away with you since the beginning of this year. This has been an amazing year so far. More stuff going on since Jan.1 st than I've ever seen in any other year. We're definately heading for the craziest year in our history. Can you feel it? I can!

OMG! I do that too! I truly appreciate all the posters who find great stories/events and post them on ATS. It saves me a lot of time digging around.

I don't think this solar flare is going to do much maybe mess with cell phone service or GPS location gizmos. If we're lucky we'll see some pretty colors. On the off-chance it may knock out a power grid or two, have your emergency supplies on the ready.

We're feeling the effects of the M-class flare from Saturday... the X-class flare effects will hit us in a few days.
