I have to disagree a little with your statement. I believe that casino's are a little bit of the problem. Yes the indians did find a way to make big bucks. The problem with this is that there is a reason why they are well off now. It is americans money that are funding their riches now. Kind of ironic I know.

The problem is for that every person that hits a jackpot, there is thousands of more people left homeless looking for these gov't handouts. I know that nobody made people gamble but you have to admit that it is a problem in america and people are selling their lives away to your prsperous leaders. It all comes full circle when you think about it. They mande billions off of people that now need welfare.

No biggie, l.j., it just looked---to me like people were piling on someone who was trying to defend the poor. I am a poor disabled person, and this kind of life is thee most powerless and restricted one, next to laying in a hospital or being locked up in jail. I live in a HUD building full of elderly and disabled people of all ages, and if certain right wing extremists had their way, we would all be dying in the streets begging, like in the days of Charles Dickens. In his story a Christmas Carol, the ghost showed Ebenezer Scrooge two children called want and ignorance, and told Ebenezer to beware ignorance the most. "Are there no workhouses? Are there no prisons? Are there no workhouses? Are there no prisons?"

I understand I know where you are coming from. My girlfriend gets a little assistance from the gov't. It is not much but I appreciate every bit of it. I am about done with community college and I am ready to break the cycle of crap that my family has lived. Remember it is never too late to go back to school. You can even take classes online now.

the truly needy and disabled should be outraged concerning the abusers of the system and the generationally LAZY. Youre about to be out on your butt with NO benefits due to it. I understood what the previous poster meant.. maybe read that offensive post again.

and no i do work and pay my own bills and get no help from any one to bad for me my family is just like you .

Give me a break. When I owned section-8 housing in Trenton NJ, some of my tenants lived better than I did. The $400 iPhones, nails and hair always done, flat screen TV's, etc. One guy even had a friggin Mercedes S430. Then they'd have the balls to say they didn't have their maybe 10% portion of the rent they'd have to pay for if they weren't "lucky" enough to get a full subsidy. I wasn't renting out sleaze bag places either. They were nice 3 bedroom places in the working class sections of town.

If you paid any attention to the thread topic, you would know that we aren't discussing the big bankers and theft perpetrated by the elite. We are discussing low income assistance. Your mere suggestion, further suggests that your comments, though have no merit, are basically a simpletons view, and ignorant.

I owned rentals from 2005 through 2009. Don't get me wrong, I also had model tenants who received either section-8 assistance or some sort of county subsidy, but the vast majority knew how to milk the system. I'm not here poor bashing either. My heart and wallet will always be open to the truly needy, but the blatent abuse and mismanagement of these programs are a large part of the problem, and the people that need the help the most are forced to be put on a multi-year waiting list with slim hopes of ever getting a voucher.

What are going on about? You do NOT HAVE to do all those things for employment, apply for a different job if you don't like it, no one is forcing these things upon you.

Do you have personal access to the President? If you dont your words are pure conjecture and political rhetoric, of course it is going with the theme the OP put forward, ie this thread is really about Obama Bashing, disguised as a whine about a relative. Even the title is a lie!

I figure Obama is here because there is a double standard in the U.S. If I get a job that I have to be bonded, I have background checks and hair samples, drug test and have to provide a birth certificate.

If I have to do that , and the op has to do that because they want an apartment

I say Obama (I refuse to call him president)
who puts his pants on the same as I do, should have to as well.
I didnt say he didnt Everyone says he didnt. Not one single person has ever said he did,
If I were him I would be willing to show it to prove I wasnt a Hack!

Apparently your current employment didn't require a drug screening of its employees. However, many companies are and have been turning to the screening process. While some may consider drug testing, credit checks, reference checks, and other pre-employment checks to be Gestapo tactics, they are a requirement for many companies. And, yes, in most cases they are legal. Remember that little section of legalese at the end of the employment application you didnt really read? Your signature on that document is what gives them the right. So be ready to live up to the terms to which you have already agreed. By the way, if you look closely at your acceptance letter, you may notice that the offer is contingent on you passing whatever pre-employment checks and/or tests they may have implemented.

The fact is, this thread did roll in Obama, and though you're a pro-Obama lover, that doesn't negate the fact that over 90% of companies require a drug screening process. You claim that if a person doesn't like the process, to move on to the next opportunity. Given the state of our economic collapse, what la la land do you live in? Do you think that a man or woman with children to support should pass up on the only employment chance, just because of the drug screening? Besides, with your logic, if someone doesn't like the screening, they must be hiding something huh?
