Why would America fund the Taliban and keep them alive

Some make the claim that the money and support funnled to the taliban not only through the pakistani secret service, isnt something Amerca cant halp, but rather something pushed for and wanted by elements within America.

Why would some people in America have an interest in keeping the Taliban operational as an fighting force, so they can fight Americans in Afghanistan? What is the gain there?

War is a machine, a very hungry machine, and must be fed. It eats money, lot of it, and it is hungry. If the machine ever stops, the Defense Industry will go bust. Besides, Lithium, Gold, and Rubys have been found in Afghanistan....do you really think they want to leave?

Money, power, control.

Fighting ghosts is an excellent way to rule the world. Even if the "United States" in name dies and disappears the players on top are still walking away with all the money, power and control.

This war is about a nation being great or a nation winning. It's about the upper caste of every nation lining their pockets and ensuring the lower castes remain subservient.

Perfectly said. Along with this, there is also opium fields which the U.S. has its soldiers guarding. As Orwell said, you keep the war small and have few casualties no one will demand the troops to come home - that is, no one in power will demand it. The rationale will always be "Afghanistan is a hotbed for terrorists. We CANNOT leave until the job is done!"

The taliban can become useful in the eradication of alqi ed. So the taliban can become eyes and hands in the fields where obl and his people my roam. My only guess.

If there is no enemy to fight....make one.

Osama Bin Laden worked for us at one time. We made China a SuperPower to have a new big bad wolf to fight.

The Defense Industry would rather put the national wealth into China to create a new enemy than waste funds on pesky citizens.

Because world peace = bad things due to happen. Any way terrorists are brainwashed and anyone preaching peace is also false prophet remember that.

Errrr because they didn’t.

The Taliban started a few years after America stopped almost all of its funding to the ISI for operations in Afghanistan once the Russians pulled out. There is no doubt that the Taliban is connected to the ISI but that does not prove that the CIA was directly involved in any of the actions of the Taliban.

Because terrorism is a war that can NEVER be won and those that think they can kill all the terrorists and the world will be rosy again are very misinformed. The war between the US and the "Terrorists" will always wage on, no matter what.

Its a new type of warfare, one that brings lots of money...its basically a new type of world war...
