This is a kick in the wotsits to AGW fans.

Boris Johnston, Mayor of London, says that the UK Met OFFIce are a waste of space, are pants at forecating weather, and thinks the planet is doing the opposite of warming up.

He rightly states the cold winter weather affecting the UK and parts of europe currently and the past few years have been the coldest ever in living memory.

He is also impressed by an independent weather forescaster who with very limited resources has correctly predicted the weather much more accurately than the Met Office who spend countless millions and get it wrong.

The independent guy uses the sun's activity to predict weather, aka climate.

The worrying part is he thinks an ice age is almost upon us.

Thanks OP, S&F. It's about time someone in a high place has started calling out on the shenanigans of the Met Office and global warming. I'm pretty sure Wales and most of the UK were left unprepared for this heavy snow. We're lucky the local shop has been open every day so we could stock up on the simple necessities. Now they should really consider adapting this country for harsh winters to come and getting food, oil/coal/gas to the people.

Yeah, ouch - a politician who says global warming is a farce. That smarts.

There are already plenty of politicians who deny man made climate change. They're called Republicans.

Meanwhile guess what - those pesky global warming scientists also predicted this weather, back in mid-October. It's because the Arctic already seems to be destabilizing, wheeee!

If some of you McExperts actually ever paid attention, instead of as usual just chuckling to yourselves over all the "alarmism", and only listening to whatever it is you want to hear, you might have noticed:

The Arctic's warming trend is beginning to affect the climate farther south, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said this week in its annual Arctic Report Card.

"There is evidence that the effect of higher air temperatures in the lower Arctic atmosphere in fall is contributing to changes in the atmospheric circulation in both the Arctic and northern mid-latitudes," wrote the report's authors, a team of 69 international scientists.

Extreme cold and big snowfalls can be blamed on the Arctic changes, according to NOAA.

So while everybody's freezing in the UK, the Arctic has been downright balmy.

Temperatures that are warmer in the Arctic than in Europe in December.

Do you want to just blame that on the Sun too?

Nope, this was clearly forecasted several days before friday. Indeed, students were leaving during the week to go home before the snow hit, ensuring they got home easily for christmas.

Haven't seen the floods or thunderstorms that Corbyn predicted for the last few days, though.

Your not alone... A lot of people do as they voted for him so he must have something.
I do not subscribe to his particular political ideology and he is obviously an intelligent individual but I find his insistence on playing the buffon irritating.
I think all political partys have a hidden agenda and work hard to present a voter acceptable persona that inveriably changes once office is achieved. The latest election has clarified this point to the extreme.
Although I bear to the centre left I hold no alliegance to any party as none truly represent my interests. They all require my vote in order to position themselves where they gain the benefit of big business and power interests. A fine example being that of the great socialist and representative of the working classes, the multi millionair Mr Anthony Blair.
Mr Johnson is the comedy sideshow to the above process and I'm just not taken in or impressed.
Its funny how his party love an 'independent' who, no doubt, will benefit from a portion of taxpayers money 'saved' by denationalising another public service.

In all fairness.. I suspect I am like most people, socialist during the week but very conservative on payday 8-)

I remember questions being sked in Parliament last yr after the met office had for several yrs so spectacularly failed to get the forcast right - it turns out they are using the same atmospheric models used to predict global warming - whilst people using solar output based models consistently got it right!

He has a lot more credibility than someone who is so unspeakably scientificaly illiterate that he imagines the interior of the earth is at a temperature of millions of degrees - Al Gore!

This is mind blowing ignorance on the part of Al Gore. Gore in an 11/12/09 interview on NBC’s tonight Show with Conan O’Brien, speaking on geothermal energy, champion of slide show science, can’t even get the temperature of earth’s mantle right, claiming “several million degrees” at “2 kilometers or so down”. Oh, and the “crust of the earth is hot” too.

Watching Gore make a complete scientific idiot of himself on national TV: priceless

Don’t believe me? Watch the video from NBC wattsupwiththat.com...

Strangely he seems to be saying the EXACT OPPOSITE thing here.

Johnson believes London is well-placed to pioneer methods in adapting to climate change, suggesting there will be economic opportunities in developing "green" jobs in the city. Johnson said: "We need to concentrate efforts to slash carbon emissions and become more energy efficient in order to prevent dangerous climate change. But we also need to prepare for how our climate is expected to change in the future.

So you are claiming to have worked it out from first principles - I think not! - that means you are TRUSTING that certain parties are in fact using reliable models and are not deliberately skewing the data.

Just think - this idiot (Gore) was a hairsbreadth away from becoming the president of the US, he is clearly in no position to know wether GW is real or not, and yet he is PASSIONATELY advocating it - so what do you suppose his passion is motivated by?

His passion was motivated by his experiences during a class with Roger Revelle at Harvard. Revelle was an oceanographer, and one of the major researchers studying climate science during the 60s.

That's probably more background in climate science than most have on this forum, and certainly more than Boris (who studied classics at Oxford).

Your source is from 2 years ago, I'm not arguing about what he said but is it not possible for people to change their minds over time as new evidence comes to light ?

We seem to live in a world where once somebody makes a stand they are seen as weak if they change their stance.

Boris Johnston is a PRIZE IDIOt. he alsomakes his own tinfoil hats. One moment he is bleeting about costs then he paints the roads blue and brings in cycles on ratepayers money. London is a great city but deserves better!

I don't get it...so what if global warming is true or false? Isn't the whole problem, that we as the sheep, have with this ordeal the fact that we are being punished for it while those who pollute the most are not? Isn't the whole problem the measuring with a double standard?

The Earth was here before humans and will be here long after we humans are gone...I find it hilarious that people have such huge ego-complexes that they think we can change anything about this fact!

Boris Johnson is awesome! Funny guy, down to earth and not afraid to speak his mind, with him as mayor of London all we need is Jeremy Clarkson to run for PM and the jobs sorted!

The thing about climate change is if the climate did not change in the past we humans would not be here.

It might be cold in the UK just now but not so long ago it was a hell of a lot colder. The UK was cover in glaciers.

Thankfully the climate chnaged and we are able to be here.

Nothing new about climate change. It happens. Deal with it.

Look - someone who thinks the Earth is two million degrees at two miles down is a complete and utter ignoramous and is not competent to judge the veracity of any theory whatsoever. I think you will find that Al Gores passion resulted when he realised that they could blame CO2 ie industrial activity on a supposedly world threatening problem, one that could be used to trump national interests of individual countries.

They could use this as a massive wealth redistribution and world governance scam, create a whole watermelon, green/eco/marxist movement, create a ton of money for themselves, sell it too the Chinese and Russians as a way to hamstring the US, sell it to the third world as grievance reparations and money for nothing.

This whole rotten agenda suits the NWO down to a tee!
