If the conspiracy theories on Haliburton's involvement in 9/11, Iraq, and BP Oil Spill....
Paying $500 million might seem cheap for them.

Few would consider him today as a 1/2 Billion dollar asset?

I'll settle for a payoff. That would not necessarily be an admission of guilt but it certainly would be the next best thing. Also it would set a precedent and in law that is valuable.

What do you think is the worst of the two scenarios though?
Cheney remaining free.. or Nigeria with half a billion dollars to blow?

Based on the leaked cable about Pfeizer, it probably went along the lines of: 'We have dirt on you, which would destroy your reputation and career if we thought it was in the public interest to publish it. I am sure we can find a win/win situation here."

nice! though, come on Nigeria, insist putting him in jail. It would be best for the entire world.

Atleast raise it to over a billion dollars.. though isnt it illegal to pay your way out of court? oh thats right, money buys everything.

It will be interesting to see? Allegations vs. Proven facts are two entirely different ball games. Heresay vs. convictions is the deciding factor.

Halliburton/KBR have been known for questionable behavior, will be interesting to see if the Nigerian law will be enforced to the fullest extent? I for one, wouldn't mind seeing the first of many thrown in jail, and the key mysteriously lost?

I wish I was uber rich so I could commit any crime I want and never face penalties for it.
