There seems to be alot of computer-knowledgeable members here. I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to prevent all of these annoying pop-up ads. It seems every site I visit has at least one if not 2 or 3 pop-up ads. I dont know if it's my ISP or what, but I have a cable connection which is typically pretty fast, but these ads still slow me down quite a bit . Any suggestions or is it just part of life on the net?

Get an application like 'pop-up stopper' - it blocks those.

I have it, though I leave it off most of the time. You also may have 'spyware' installed that serves up their own popups, banners, etc. 'Ad-aware' will remove that. I have no problem with a site advertising but pop-ups and banners that come up as result of spyware is cheesy.

Norton Personal Firewall also has ad blocking integrated with it.

I use free surfer MK II and as Bob said ad-aware to remove spyware.

Thanks everyone for the advice. Is this "ad aware" downloadable or do you have to buy it in the store? How about pop-up stopper? Just curious Bob, why dont you use it? Thanks again!

Use Opera, or get a popup killer.
