Will Wikileaks and Operation Payback Cause Internet Censorship?

My biggest concern about this huge subject of Assange, Wikileaks and Operation Payback is how it will be used by the Obama Administration which is already trying to find a way to censor speech on the internet and in the media.

Strangely enough, the Far Left Leadership appears to be the ones most critical of this and the other side is staying neutral. I find that very odd and there must be a reason.

Is it the Conservatives are fearful Obama will use this as a tool to get the control of the Internet and Media they want so badly? Is it that the Left who would normally support this fully, sees this as a weapon to use to get the control of speech they want? Perhaps.

We have seen time and time again those associated with the extreme Left of the Democrats propose controlling speech through various means. The Obama Administration and his mouthpieces most certainly are looking that direction. Those of you following along also know about Howard Deans recent tirade about removing FoxNews from the air and Rush Limbaugh. In other words censoring speech for anyone who is not in line with their political views.

A couple of weeks ago, Obama's mouthpieces were even saying to remove both FoxNews and MSNBC. They threw MSNBC under the bus as cover in my opinion. Doubly odd as the CEO of GE who is on one of Obama's advisory committees, that we just found out got billions in low interest loans even though they don't qualify and it was hidden from us, writes the paychecks for NBC News and MSNBC who both supported Obama. Can't get any more in our faces than that. The loans were an obvious political bribe.

So who exactly is complaining to them they want Political Speech controlled? Only a died in the wool proponent of Communist Style Socialism would suggest such a thing. We know Obama has spent his life socializing with that crowd and even made appointments to people who have in their own words supported that agenda.

It seems to me that Assange and his cohorts could well give them the ammunition they need to control speech and cause way more harm than good. One thing is for sure, we have not heard the last of this. If this next dump causes even one death or leads to anything bad happening, watch them use it to control speech. So does that make Assange a Hero or a Devil and what is his real agenda. Why is he hanging out with people who support Castro and Dictatorial Governments and want to destroy Capitalism and Freedoms? His choice of one night stands for instance.

This is a deep Rabbit Hole and I'm amazed so many here view it in such a shallow manner, letting this person lead them around by their noses just because they are angry and not thinking clearly. How many travesties throughout history were cause by this? Many! He is no Hero. He simply took advantage of an angry, mentally disturbed Soldier (from his own Mothers words) and used the information he illegally stole while committing what may be Treason and used it for his own ends. He accepted the illegally obtained material and used this disturbed person to promote himself. The Soldier took nearly all of the risk. I doubt Assange will be charged with anything and that Soldier is in deep, deep trouble.

Your thoughts. I really want to know what people think after they take a breath and consider the facts, leaving their emotions aside and engaging the critical thinking parts of your brains. This is not an attack on the idea of helping Whistlblowers which I support fully. This is about a man trying to bring down the System for nefarious reasons that may not be what you think you are supporting. May even be working for others with less than noble purpose.

Internet censorship has been in the works for along time. So should we Rollover and play dead or stand and fight/its our choice but we are running out of time and options.

From what I understand, the goal is to attack Julian Assange enemies and those trying to censor the information and spreading that information so far that censorship will be impossible unless the internet were shut down.

Then it's the American peoples job to make sure that doesn't happen.
If not enough people care, then we're all screwed.

Sure why not, the Internet is the last bastion of free uncensored opinion so why wouldn't they. They have already begun blacklisting agendas.

With the internet we have become greater then our Governments, its up to us now whether the organic growth of the internet continues. We have to keep speaking up and not leave it too late.

I can't wait for the conspiracy to appear : "Julian Assange was an Agent for the CIA and Wikileaks was a false flag to secure the internet and enforce censorship!!!!11"

I wonder if my old modem still works...

You can't stop revealing truth because you fear that by revealing that truth you're going to be prevented from revealing/finding out future truths.

What will people do if their internet is shutdown?
They will protest,they don't know how to live without it.
I think that was considered by wikileaks and it may be their biggest weapon.

have the chance to be unfaithful to you. Then you could carry on with life believing you have a faithful wife.

I would much rather know if my wife was faithful know matter what. Let her out on a girls night out. Let her be with her friends. If it turns out she is unfaithful then you take the necessary actions. If she remains true then you know you have a good thing.

Freedom of speech needs to be tested to its limits.Do you really think the problem goes away by removing Julian Assange? The problem would still be there but it would go un-noticed just like the wife in the basement. She wants to cheat on you but just can't. We may not like some of the things he is exposing but remember, he is only taking information and passing it along. Are you this angry with the Drudge Report for listing all of the things he has released? Why is the MSM noy drawing heavy fire? They are doing the same thing he is!

Take him out of the equation, assasinate him,....and guess what??????
All of the problems are still there, only we no longer know about them!

So unless you are comfortable with saying that you would rather not know, and would rather be allowed to live a lie, then I would suggest aligning yourself with the truth no matter the cost.

Not sure I understand? How will attacking Assange cause censorship. I'm saying he will give the government a reason people will buy into for them to start regulating speech. Add to that the foolish attack by Anonymous and they might have enough to convince the public to back that play.

That's like asking if an assault victim caused the assailant to batter them.

Obama is such a tool it's not even funny, so much, so soon to the point that it doesn't make any sense. You have to wonder if he's ineffective, complicit or a trap. Even if this administration would want to ever censor or shot down the internet, the damage has already been done and not just to Obama's term but to the previous administrations too and the further back in time those leaks go, the more they would become dangerous to tptb.

I don't really worry about the Internet being censored,

If it ever happens I will drop everything and become a hacker and free us all from enslavement.

I think there is too many people that would fight it, I hope anyways, but, I'm an optimist.

If anything happens to it then they had it planned all along.

No I don't and there in lies the problem. What is Assanges agenda considering his politics?

One one hand he is involved with people who promote Castro style Dictators and the elimination of freedoms, while on the other he is doing this to insure freedom. I hear alarm bells. But then he may just be not to bright.

If his goals were noble, why the giant dumps instead of carefully chosen documents? Why documents that only serve the purpose of creating divisions between governments instead of bringing us together? How does a person who is fighting against freedom to the benefit of those who hate freedom pretend to be who he claims to be. Something stinks here.

Can you point out a single document that would qualify as Whistleblowing and not just an angry Anarchist trying to do all the damage he can no matter who gets hurt?

The real conspiracy here may be that Conspiracy Theorists don't recognize he is in fact involved in one.

I keep going back to who he socializes with. People who want complete government control. Why? What's the real goal here?

As to the hackers, they are just adolescent minded people who simply want to cause mayhem. The same people who destroy innocent peoples property and call it protesting. We all know them. They are mad at the world for whatever reason and use zero logic in their actions.
