Anyhow, I would say it is more typical Irish behavior...I mean, if we are going to cast out racial steriotypes...I think the irish have the streetfighting meme moreso than America.

Sorry to point this out, but we regularly see scenes of chaos in America revolving solely around shopping and consumption. I have not seen the same coming from Ireland, the UK, France...

America is the only nation I have seen where we regularly see people fall over each other to get into a store for a sale and then fight over a handbag. America is the only country I have seen where people have actually died in the crush trying to buy something!

Lets face it, while it might not be the majority, the USA has very high number of people who value material gain and objects over common decency. It'll be very interesting to see how this all falls apart on such a scale when these people can no longer afford their shiny trinkets.

IMO - There's racial stereotyping, and then there's just honesty.

You people make us sound like we will kill each other for some new [insert whatever you want].. Did you not see people breaking up the fights? Animals wouldn't do that, they would watch and cheer them on..

typical??? are you ignorant enough to think this is typical american behavior? this is what makes the news and is shown on internet clips. and i thought asian people were educated, and had critical thinking skills.

Wow. How sad. This is why I do all my shopping at night or online after Thanksgiving. People are nuts. I got caught between two really over weight women one year fighting over the last tickle me elmo. A couple of well placed foot stomps got me out of it and I didn't even want the dang elmo. I was just after a little woodnen pull toy for my great nephew. That was the last time I made the mistake of going shopping the day after Thanksgiving.

I know this is over a cd but still the same concept.

And whoever said this is typical American behaviour is dead wrong. The vast majority of Americans even the ones that shop on black Friday do not fight over crap like this.

Sad but true... When the SHTF, my biggest concern are the people like this, who will be "forced" to fight over food to feed their family, and will in turn do anything it takes. Considering how easy it is to get a gun in this country, and how many people on the edge of sanity who are armed, this possibility really worries me..

Oh I see what you're saying.. With you also living in the USA, by saying "typical American behavior" you are separating yourself from this type of behavior while informing us that you are above it (which is always a good thing). Or maybe you couldn't hear her creaming "you hit my child!" from way up there..
Its also relatively risk free that we don't group you with the rest of us "typical" Americans, with your Japanese theme and all..
This is typical for the type of people that live in ghettos, which every country has. Most of use Americans have never seen this in stores. Hardly qualifies as typical.

But are you really that ignorant to stereotype a whole nationality when you see a couple residents acting up? Even I have seen my share of, what I now feel justified to say for the purpose of this post- videos with typical Japanese behavior. Do you understand?

With America being one of the most racially diverse countries in the world, its ironic how someone can live here from abroad, and freely make demeaning stereotypes of American behavior, as if they are different.

Okay, I only needed to watch five seconds of the clip to realize this was taped in a ghetto. So why are you generilizing all americans out of one ghetto wal mart video? I mean the ghetto makes up like less then 20 percent of the US and you can tell where it was because well, they are minorities in the video (Can't generalize all Americans by minorities, either) This is not typical in the nicer upper class majority towns. Just saying.

Here is why people say typical american behavior. It may not happen everyday it does happen every Black Friday though. A few videos from Wal Marts around the country.

That's is a pretty bold statement you are saying. Just because there are as you say minorities in the video this was in the ghetto. I take it you haven't been to a large mall lately have you? This can be any typical shopping mall anywhere in this country. Hell go to any mall in Atlanta,Ga and you can see the same thing (not the fighting) at certain stores, especially if they are a Hip Hop oriented store. Yes you will find caucasion people there also. So your comment about it has to be in the ghetto because of the people that are in the video may be looked at by some as being racist. I hope that you weren't meaning those comments in that manner, because I do not think you meant it in that manner, but is you did so be it.

I am joking of course, there's no excuse for this behavior...but I would say it's ghetto typical, not America typical. I actually was in a wal mart on black friday in Mississippi and not one fight broke out it was a rural area, not a ghetto, but they acted civilized. I didn't of course I had an attitude towards my Hubby cause we were on vacation and I wanted to be doing something fun not christmas shopping. I loathe being even at a grocerys tore on black friday!

Your right this doesn't happen everyday it just seems to happen during Black Friday and that is when the news will report things like this. Any other day than BF you will never see the news doing a report from a store or mall unless something criminal happens there. And that is really sad how they sensationalize this day where people see it on the news and think it happens all the time. Especially if it is reported and picked up by other countries that do not see the whole picture of the rest of the year.
