Today I went out to the polls and voted for a straight Republican ticket from everything from Senator to dog catcher. If it had an R next to the name, I chose that person. Why did I do it ? I did it because I believe the last two years were a train wreck waiting to happen. The constant borrowing and spending, the deficits, the high unemployment rate, and let us not forget Obamacare. But I think the most important reason was when Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid said they would go against the people and shove everything down our throat, that they knew better than us. For that reason alone I still would have pulled the lever for the R. How about you ?

I am one of the millions of independent voters out there who have no political party. I watched. I listened. The Republicans talked about the issues and the Democrats talked about the Republicans personal lives, their religion, their days in college etc. So I voted for the R this time around.

I voted for the Green, Libertarians and Socialist into office. To many Neocons and Neolibearils. In California it's just sad seeing all the homeless and the Democrat or Republican campaigns our nothing but jokes to the youth.

Voting a straight party line is, in all sincerity, ignorant.

Voting only along party lines hurts our system more than it helps. Instead of figuring out what each candidate in your area was about, you listened to the big talking heads.

I once knew a guy who thought it was against the law to vote for a candidate not in the same party as you.

He was college educated and in his 30's.

That was pretty much the day my faith in the "system" died. Arms flailing and moaning in horrible pain.

To know that people like that decide the parameters in which my only life will be lived nearly drove me psychotic.

Don't listen to the dissenters. You did right.

A green/libertarian vote is a wasted vote plain and simple.

Yes the Republicans aren't much better, but if we make it clear that no matter who you are, if you mess up, you get voted out then both sides eventually get the message.

This Election IS All about the Lesser of " Two Evils " when you think about it . Two Different Political Views (Dem./Rep ) Diametrically Apposed to one another in Terms of the Direction this Country should take into the Future . As an Independent , I can see the Logic in your Choice here . The Rejection of the Continuation of the " Nanny State " as opposed to the Renewed Belief in Constitutional Freedoms that the Tea Party has Forced the Reps. to Embrace out of Political Neccessity . Lets Hope you And I have made the Right Choice Today .

LONG LIVE THE REPUBLIC !

Hmm. Let me guess that you were not the least bit concerned about the runaway spending as Bush did it with his unfunded Medicare bill and the two wars that have accomplished nothing but dead soldiers, dead civilians and legions of newly-minted terrorists with a right to hate us now. I guess Bush's tax cuts that added 100s of billions to the deficit did not bother you either. I guess none of these things mattered to you UNTIL FOX told you it was time to care about them now that a black democrat holds the presidency.

It also likely does not move you that the TARP bit was forced down our throats by Bush. You probably believe even that Obama raised your taxes instead of the reality that he cut them.

Think much for yourself?

I feel your pain,man.

I got no problem with toeing the party line if that's how you honestly feel. If you think that those candidates will further prosper you and your areas ideals.

But just because they have a certain letter is a big time voter fail.

I agree with Supermanv2.

Voting a straight party is ignorant and lazy. You didn't do your research, you took the easy way out and just voted R.

And Bush (another Republican) put us in this mess we are in by the way.

People don't realize it but economy wise what you are feeling now is in part from the decisions the previous administration made.

War is expensive, and start researching who has profitted from the War in Iraq.

Bush, a Republican lied to us about WMD. Read Paul Waldman's book, "Fraud" where in he quotes and dismantles 262 lies by Bush.

Republicans are notoriously for helping the big corporations and Democrats appear to be for the common working man.

As ATS is a hot bed for Republicans, I expect no stars and tons of flaming, go for it - I've got my flame suit on and I'm ready for you.

I am voting mostly Democrat but I am also voting for some Republicans depending on the issues they stand on.

I did my research.

But, and it's a big but - do our votes really count anymore?

Are Democrats and Republicans being manipulated by the exact same puppet master?

Lets see in the first 18 months of Bush and Obama. Now keep in mind the liberals controlled congress with Bush too.
Bush spent $500 Billion
Obama spent in the same time 5 Trillion and who knows how much in easing.

The republicans are running this country into a mountain, The democrats are too- powered by a rocketship!!
But the nanny state we have created can't be fixed by anyone, no matter who is in office.

ofhumandescent the reason we are in the financial mess we are now is because of 2 democrats, Carter, and Clinton. Carter started the fair housing act and under Clinton it was turned into a monster. The credit crash and now the economy being in ruins is owned by the liberals. Under the Fair housing Act banks were forced to give risky loans out and taxed if they didn't meet a certain quota of "high risk" loans. That artificially inflated the housing market and caused the bubble which has now popped. Upside down in a home loan? thank Clinton and the dems for that.

I voted for the people that I thought would do the best job. Some Democrats some republican most libertarian.

You might look into the Libertarian party to see if they stand for what you believe in . Their positions most closely resemble mine.

I didn't vote and here is why. I don't see any point. I have yet to see any proof that the elections aren't rigged. There have been so many cases of voter fraud, I lost faith is our political system years ago. There are so many people that will say whatever people want to hear then never make good on their campaign promises yet they continued to get voted in. I have voted in every election I was able to since I was 18 and this is the first time I didn't waste my time.

I believe that our form of government started out as a good idea but has been so bastardized by the greedy and the power hungry that it is now flawed beyond repair and the only thing we can do is hit the reset button. I'm sure someone will be along shortly to tell me how wrong I am.

By voting a straight party line you showed how ignorant you are. You are doing EXACTLY what parties want you to do...vote out of knee-jerk reactions rather than based on rationality and logic.

The sad part is, you give the impression to be proud about what you did. Not sure how one can be proud of his/her ignorance.

What's even sadder, is that people don't even bother looking at the facts. Like, many people don't even know that the bail-out money has in most cases already been paid back...WITH INTEREST!!

Obama's not perfect, but voting for the people who deregulated the finance industry to the point where they could all screw us over, and the party who blocked the harsher financial reforms doesn't make much sense...that is, unless you get all your "info" form pundits without ever bothering to look up the facts yourself.

For those with a brain, I suggest you visit this website to make up your opinion: FACTCHECK.ORG

I'd like to point out that the bailouts that have been given to banks and the auto industry have been dreamed up and passed by Democrats not Republicans.

See, no flaming.

Exactly! That was a wasted vote. There is some other equally uninvolved and uneducated (politically) person out there voting all D's and your votes are both wasted and a bunch of good candidates were entirely discounted and ignored!

Come on people!! Vote for the person, not the party. I will end up voting for a few Republicans today. Marco Rubio and Rick Scott stand out as two. But, I will also be voting for some good Independents like Paul McKain, and if I don't have preference in a race, I will probably vote for a Constitutional or Libertarian party.

I certainly won't just hand my vote away to a Republican, and definitely not a Democrat. My vote has to be earned! Either by earnest, straightforward campaigning, or by association with someone besides the entrenched parties.

man don't listen to the nay sayers you vote how you want to vote and you did.

its not up for other people to decide whether its right or wrong its not their places

to me that is the same thing as electioneering.

i also voted straight Republican my senator who voted for the healthcare bill and the all the other democrats were incumbents.

i voted my conscious and tried to get career politicians out of that office and they just happened to be democrat.

turn that conversation around and tell them how they should have voted and they would get mad about it.

free country free will and you sir are free to vote how ever your conscious dictates everyone else opinions matter not.

How about Why I Didn't Vote and Why! I don't trust politicians in any shape, form or fashion. I have voted many times in the past to be disappointed over and over again - even with those I voted for. I no longer vote in any election!
